I havent ran into any cons with being in the AF. Its a great career choice. As far as making rank. Yes it is a little bit harder then the other branches. Thats because in the AF you will have to take 2 100 questions test in refrence to your job and then just the AF in general. It basically comes that you have to work for the rank.
I am 22 been in the AF for under 5 wears and I am a SSgt. It is possible to make rank fast.
The placement test (ASVAB Test) is not hard. Its off the stuff you learned in high school. If you want you can check Amazon.com they have study guides that you can buy.
Yes they will shave your head. It doesnt matter it you were down to the scalp they will still set you in the chair to make sure its all off. You will get I think 2 hair cuts while in basic. The first one everything is cut off the second one they just shorten it up. Dont worry though it will grow back.
If you have anymore questions just message me. Take care.

I have a son in the Airforce...I was in the Navy and Husband was in the Marines...You have to score higher on the test for the Airforce for the job you want...Rank wise mine went in as an E3, he has to wait i think its a year for E4. But the Navy is the same way. The pay is what it is, if you leave off base you get more money and i think you have to be an E4 to live off base in the Airforce, unless your married...You get great medical and being in the airforce at least if you dont pass the school in the job you want your not given a rifle and put on the front lines....And the bootcamp is 6 weeks, 6 weeks, heck it was 12 for me....Also everyone is bald at bootcamp, except the females so dont worry about your hair...Go talk to a recuiter, they can give you more info...I say join the Navy :).......

Remember that only officers fly (that's thou for the most of the worlds air forces). A good start would be a excellent health and condititon together with almost perfect vision (for pilots perfect!). If you don't fly combat aircraft I would say that staing in the AF is safer since the bases are in the rear and not so likely to be attacked compared to say army units. Air force means a lot of technology and computers so these subjects would be recommendable to study. But the most important thing is to study. us air force and the other services have race their requirements on minimum level of school (I don't knew where the cut line is today but you could most likely find the info on the air forces home page of your choose.) In us one option could be a ROTC study that leads to (I think) a reserve officers grade (for future promotion to officer). Good luck! Johan

It is good to review basic high school math problems for the ASVAB. Forget about not moving up fast, you will soon learn that the Air Force tailors to its soldiers needs more than any other branch. Forget people who tell you it is weak to join the Air Force, because you will be laughing all along the way when they are digging their holes to sleep in, and you are in your air conditioned tent.

You can go to the library and check out a book called ASVAB that's basically perfect for you to study before you go to take the test, its general questions, stuff you learned in high school.
