Of course. That's their job. When they want attention, you shouldn't be doing anything else, except paying attention to them, It's their nature. Then when you call them for some reason. they screen the call on caller I.D. I'm so glad my 2 cats let me live with them. In their defense, when I'm sick, they never leave my side and they make me laugh every day.

I have partially solved this problem by putting down a dish of Wiskas something in gravy before a start to use the computer. That is a v. big distraction for Lucy C. Tabby.
But not always. She will brush against my legs, and that is the signal that it is cat petting time and lean down with one hand and pet until she walks away.
Sometimes she lies down between the CPU and the monitor/keyboard and one foot will stick you over the left side of the keyboard. I try to put it up and she gives me a look.
We work it out.

Yes, and I have two cats that do it all the time. This is to tell you that they want attention. I know it is very difficult to type when they do this, so I give them a cuddle and then send them on their way off the desk.
Life is not always purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect...lol

I have a laptop that I use at home and my cats jump up on my lap whenever I'm in the chat rooms-probably because I have the speakers on and they can hear me and the other people speak. Otherwise, they just run around the room until they get my attention-or I tell them to take a "chill pill" (the original owner got them into that-she was a "flower child" back in the '60's)

Yes. Make a lot of things that will reassure your cat. S/he's just jealous... Or maybe wants to attract your attention.
Pay attention to your kitty but let him/her know you don't like it when he does that (or you will get trained - kitty gets attention when s/he steps in front of the screen).
What I do was keep a toy my cat has recently been preferring nearby, when my cat starts walking in front of the screen, dangle the toy in front of him (without looking at him!) and throw it away - my cat goes chasing it, and when he comes back to me, I pet him before he stands in front of the screen, so he doesn't link petting with standing in front of the screen. Honestly, the few seconds to chase the toy and bring it back are enough for disassociation.

Not only does she get in the way, she walks over the keyboard and plays with the cursor on the screen. It stops getting cute after a while.

Yeah my kitty's help me type on the keyboard and they also try to help me write a letter or so. They like attacking the pen or pencil that I am using and if I am looking though and book or magazine then they try to grab the pages or lay on the pages and go to sleep!! I think it's cute they just what your attention and love do you blame them...

I have one cat that climbs on my shoulders like a wrap, and digs her paws in my arm. And the other one likes to lie on the desk top, and swish his tail so that all the pictures fall off on the floor. Gotta love 'em...lol

Mine will lay on desk up next to lamp and hang his paw in front of the screen. Makes it hard to read sometimes, but I wouldn't want to disturb him, seeing how he lets me live here and all! :)
