People often pick and choose aspects of any belief system. Most gays would not like the church's teaching on sexuality, but can still like the rest of Jesus' message and want to be part of the church. The United Church of Canada, founded in the 1920s, is very friendly towards gays, so they culd find a home there.

I don't think that's true. Real Christianity has nothing to do with what the wackjob conservatives like The 700 Club spew out. It is people who make the assumptions that Jesus meant this or that. People are the ones who are biased, the New Testament is not. The NT is all anout love and forgiveness and living in fellowship with all people - So-called "Christians" (Evangelicals, and the like, the really nutty "you'll burn in hell!" types) these days take what they like from the Old Testament and apply it to Jesus. There's a great website you should see if this is a topic that really interests you - http://www.mccchurch.org - I'll admit, I am not gay, however I found the site while answering another question recently, and it intrigued me.

wow... a tad judgemental? What is the difference between a Christian being homophobic and you being this biased about Christians? Isn't that the same thing? I don't really understand why people feel the need to post questions like this anyways.... there are people of every faith, orientation and ethnicity that are war driven, homophobic, distraught and or on smack...

These people might be able to answer your question, they are praying for an inclusive church...I say good luck!:

The thing that stops me from being a Christian is that it is based on a lie...I find no truth there and so even if it schmoozed up to gays it wouldn't interest me any more than it does now.
By the way there is no such thing as ex-homosexuals, one misguided answerer here seems to think there is. Homosexuality is a normal human variation, there is nothing to forgive or be restored.

Like most Christians and religious in general, they just go back out of habit and conditioning. They grew up that way. They have elements of the religion they like and wish to keep. They believe the religion will evolve with society and become more open and understanding. They prefer to fix what is broken rather than through it away.

Hello!! :o) Since you are obviously[?] an 'expert' on Christianity - you should write a book and enlighten the world. Why keep all that 'brilliance' to yourself?! Hmm?! Craig.

I don't think homosexuals WANT to be Christians. Simply because they should know that Christianity considers homosexuality to be an abomination. But I believe EX-homosexuals want to be Christians, because many have found that in God they have a proper view of their personhood and have the power to straighten up their lives, and that in Christ there is forgiveness and restoration.

It is probably because it is the religion they were raised with. So that is the only thing they know
