Honestly speaking all these things go hand in hand. The % dominance may vary at different points of time.
As generally accepted, nothing lasts in life. Simply life also does not last. But one always longs to have love and friendship. Every sane man/woman desires so and so should they.

Loneliness can be a wilful choice. For intance, it doesn't matter if you're with our loved ones, friends, say a big gathering ... You can still feel lonely if you want to. So ,loneliness, whether physical (No one close to you, or as a choice (You don't want anyone near you because ... You simply don't) is easier dealt with that two previous emotions.

For instance, no matter how lonely you feel, you can always phone/visit a loved one/friend, tell them how you feel and they'll be there for you (It is hoped) Or not! Thus you have a decision to make ... Do you want to remain lonely or not? If not you can go out meet new people, feel part of their crowd and not have to be lonely again. Then again ... You might be like myself! I don't like crowds, enjoy being on my own with my dogs. Doesn't mean i don't like people because i do! If i prefer my peace and quiet, value my privacy more than feel overcrowded because that's what others do.

As for love ... You will always, if not love someone, think about them and feel love for them. Friendship is the same. Why friendship lasts or doesn't is irrelevant. You will have your memories, make you laguh so that ... You won't feel totally lonely.

Someone said "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved! And ... He/she was right! Was right because, and no matter what happens to love/friendship ... You remain, so do your memories, last but not least ... Your will to re enter in a relationship, be it love or friendship and forge yourself more souvenirs!

Love fades, friendships end, but a feeling of lonliness can linger all your life. A mother's love is unconditional, so that's not the same thing.

lilibert - nice thought, nice quote, but love doesn't last for everyone.

That all depends on the decisions you make. If you decide to love someone for life, then it lasts. If you decide to stay away from people and be lonely for life, then that lasts. However with friendship its different. If another person decides they don't want to be your friend, then it doesn't last. But if both people decide to be friends for life, then it does.

Man comes to this world alone and leaves alone. Normally, we think so. However, Love and friendship accompanied us in between our journey from arrival to departure on the globe. Divine love lasts with us , even when, we are alone and it goes along with our departed soul for eternity.
