Smokers lungs do turn black. I think they can re-oxygenate when you quit. I am not sure they actually return to the pink they once were. Depending on your age and how long you have smoked could be factors. Why take a chance, go ahead and quit, I just quit 2 months ago. It is still hard some days. But most of the time I don't even think about it anymore.

Smoking has a worse side effect than your lungs just turning black... consult a doctor. Its not a matter of color(pink), but the state of health.

I just quit.. after smoking for 7 years. Its been 8 days now, so wish me luck
Why did I do it? I want to be around for a while. While I know I made a mistake starting in the first place... why would I want to make it worse by continuing?
I hope you can find it in you to quit and have a long and happy life!

They say in time the lungs will return to normal. I would guess this only true if a person not have Cancer or something. Then it too late unless they can cure it.

If you quit smoking, in the long run, your lungs might gradually return to normal color. If you quit smoking, at least you are decreasing the chances of having lung cancer.

The lungs can heal themselves faster than any organ in the body..providing you quit smoking. Takes a few years..but if you don't quit?....you know what happens...

It will get back to normal but the older you are, ther longer it will take to get better. The only organ in the human body that does not recover damaged cells is the brain.
I say try to quit now, i'm trying but its hard to
