The heart is the software; the brain is the hardware. The soul is the power supply without which nothing will function. Anyway, you cannot compare a computer with any living being. All living beings - from the smallest ant to humans and the big whales out in the oceans - are far more advanced and sophisticated than any computer that man has ever invented/made so far.

Animals as well as humans have souls. The soul means the person or animal themselves. Animals will go to heaven, Not through salvation. Animals souls don't need redemption. Animals never sinned. Man did, Man needs a redeemer. Jesus Christ.
Gen. 1:20, 21, 24, 25: “God went on to say: ‘Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls* . . . ’ And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind. . . . And God went on to say: ‘Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds . . . ’ And God proceeded to make the wild beast of the earth according to its kind and the domestic animal according to its kind and every moving animal of the ground according to its kind.” (*In Hebrew the word here is ne'phesh. Ro reads “soul.” Some translations use the rendering “creature[s].”)

That one hell of a leap you have there from "you will say computers are not living beings" to "you are confessing that there is something makes livingbeings so special". A computer is also not a wheel of cheese. Does that mean I'm confessing that a wheel of cheese has a soul or what? Come back, bring logic.

You are right.
Chess playing computers have been around for decades, and in the early days they could never win against a pro, despite having the ability to process thousands of times more moves than any human player. Today there have been chess grandmasters who have lost to computers, but it is rare, and these computers can process MILLIONS of moves in an instant. The human mind is much, much more than hardware and software.

Computers don't have an eternal soul and are not made in the image of God. If they do become "living beings" then they will be in the same category as intelligent animals like dolphins or elephants or parrots or apes. They may be superintelligent and sentient, but without souls they lack that one thing that makes humanity special.

I see what you are saying....and I agree with the simplicity of it all. I think the soul is the spiritual element to living beings, but also there is "free will", and reproduction and emotions and flesh and blood, etc.

What makes humans special is their own imaginations.
Does this mean you are asserting that insects & other animals have souls based solely on their ability to reproduce?

because we define something as 'alive' that independently performs several processes that you can learn all about in any biology text book. Crazy stuff like respiration. And that is very special.
