24p refers to frame rate, film is shot at 24 frames therefore someone had the idea that to give video a film feel, something i would call motion blur, now high defition is a television standard tipically 24p is 1080psf which is 1080 lines of video progressive segmeted frames, therefore 24p is not 1080p, the main hdtv formats are 720p 60, (720 lines progressive 60 fields per second, 2 fields equals a frame)and 1080i 54.94( 1080 lines interlaced 54.94 fields), because of these 2 forms or 2 standards there where problems crossconverting between footage shot in either standard, a new standard was developed 1080p 60 1080 lines progressive 60 frames this is called the universal format becasue it can be downconverted to either 720p or 1080i without any degradation, so generally speaking 1080i looks best for stills, 720p for fast action, and 1080p is just amazing it also takes twice the bitrate therefore equipment wont be backwards compatible with it, so if you goint to buy a new tv make sure is 1080p compatible.

i dont mean to sound arrogant, but if you just give me the 10 points itll save you the trouble of going to all those links. :-)
anyways, high def and 24p are two totally different things. high def refers to a new form of video with ultra clear images, while 24p refers to the frames per second at which it was shot, 24 frames progressive the actual frame rate of film. i think you might have gotten 24p mixed up with 720p or 1080p, which are versions of hi-def. if that was the case, then 1080p is the best, because it has the most resolution. hope this helps!

thats not a valid question. 24p is a frame rate. 24 frames a second. its film frame rate. it looks smoothe. obviously film is a higher quality then hi def. but u can record hi def in 24p. so...24p and hi def can be the same some times. but film is definetely better.
