Generally there will be a subtle perception of a foreign energy in the house, this may be emanating from an earthbound entity or could also be residual energy from previous events.

Whilst attempting to take rest, during the time when members of the household are about to enter sleep proper, at that time if the entity is malevolent toward you, there is often an experience of being smothered or it may be difficult to breath and the throat may feel constricted, there may also be a general disturbance of sleep and disturbing dreams.

The earthbound soul may be reluctant to move on to their next stage of development, due to attachments within the material realm, they may also be in denial about the destruction of their material body and may see you as an intruder in "their home", if you have just moved in to your residence. There are a number of possibilities.

There are a few general signs but not necessary to have all of them. Temperature changes, either up or down (usually colder). Things might move or be in a spot you know you didn't put them (like keys, photos, etc.) Seeing things out of the corner of your eye put when you look directly they are gone.
I guess there are more not so subtle ones but then if you had a apparition you would know it's being haunted.

There are two ways of finding out. Findout the History of the plot on which the house stands. It can be an old burial gound.
Same for the history of the house. How old it is, who built it what happened in his family such as cases of Murder, suicide, etc
Temporarily occupy the house for three days and nights and watch for unusual sounds, movement of things by themselves
or you get acreepy feeling etc
Check on the last occupancy. How many days did any one stay there? In case of short vacations try to contact the people to find out their reason for vacating the house.
it can be aVaastu defect also

I believe that people are haunted, not houses. You are open to "see" other planes or you are not! Keep a positive attitude and your ghost may get very fun!

Consult a ghost buster.
(Btw, the whole world is haunted by real life ghosts everywhere. So why do you have to worry if your house is haunted?)

You won't feel comfortable when it comes to sleeping time. u might feel something pushing / pressuring u while u were in the bed lying down. U can't open ur eyes neither mouth to shout.
U can feel something is watching or moving in a glance.

Mostly I'd look out for ghosts in a situation like this.

I think you need to stop watching scary movies. They're affecting your brain.
