I would never say it is impossible but it is highly unlikely. Universal precautions are drummed into medical personnel before they start working in any health care facility, and frequently while they are working there. That is why they use gloves so much, so many of their supplies are disposable, a lot of equipment has disposable covers of parts that come in contact with patients.

The personnel would be putting themselves at risk before they would be putting you at risk. If they do not follow precautions, they could become infected, and by protecting themselves they are protecting you.

You cannot contract HIV by sitting in the room with an infected person, or even talking to them. It is spread through their body fluids, which you will not be handling.
