have English and other launguages readily available for us when we're there? As we do for all the other languages here? Like Pressing 1 - or whatever. BTW-great question there. Got me thinking.

All the other countries were not formed like ours and they aren't largely immigrants, however, if you go to almost any country in Europe most things are announced or given in English as well! They don't have to do it, but they are nice and do! Unlike people like you would want!

englisj is spoken all around the globe. Maybe not as native language, but everybody is learning it. In fact, this is a Peruvian answering your question.
it's not only about the money; it's mainly because almost everything (academic information, music, books, etc) use English. It's an international language that allows a Peruvian (who's native language is spanish) to speak with russian people... and sort of thigns like that... in conclusion: everybody speaks English

Many countries are learning English as a second language. English is becoming the international language. However, when I travel, I try to speak the language of the country I am visiting out of respect to its citizens. They appreciate my efforts and help me.

I live in Canada, in the province of Quebec, and here the automated phone systems are typically in French but you can press 2 (or sometimes 9) for English.

ENGLISH is the international language and yes, they do have other languages available. Do not get carried away by these hate mongers here on this forum that have not gone no further than the fence around their home/tee pee.

A lot. I spent five years in Saudi Arabia, and almost everyone I met spoke English. I learned a bit of Arabic, but not nearly as much as I would have needed had the business of the day not been conducted in English.
