you may not need proffessional help. sometimes things in life just have a way of working themselves out. Nowadays ppl always want to tell you to rush and get your head shunk when sometimes you just need a good sympethetic ear and a sturdy shoulder to lean on. Look around you right now, do you see an available psycologist, therepist, councellor or any other mental health practitioner to run to? But I'm sure you have good friends or relatives that will at least listen to you. I'm sure you've notice that life has got some bumpy-*** roads and you don't always need a towtruck when times are tough. Dig in, there might be someone passing by thats got 4wheel drive and a winch to help you out.

Depends on where you are. I used to do the same thing to be happy. I went to a psychologist and continued to go to him for quite some time. He never had me put in a looney bin, but helped me to stop what I was doing. You should seriously go to someone and get help though, hurting yourself is not a good thing.

you have taken the first step. kinda. the next step is for you to seek professional help. I doubt that they will send you to the looney bin because you recognize that you have a problem. people in the looney bin don't know that they are crazy.

You do have a problem. It has a specif name as well (don't know it now). Try to go to a Shrink first. They won't send you to a loony bin. You need to get help. It's like a disorder.

There's more things to do to make yourself happy. It may seem that hurting yourself is the key, but it's not. I'm sure they will commit you if try to get help.
