The mommas milk is almost dry but there is some left, although the kittens are not getting to eat. I went to the store and bought kitten bottles and kitten formula but they are not eating it either. they seem strong for kittens that are 8 days old so I really don't know how long they went without food, but they were locked up in a room alone and the momma could not get to them for possibly 4 days while I was at a funeral out of town. Don't know how the kittens got in the room they were in and I don't know how long the door was shut for. Can kittens survive for 4 days without food? What should I do?

They are now eating and REALLY fighting each other for food. I think they may be fine because like I said, I don't think they went that many days without food cause wouldn't they be dead by now?

If you really must know what happened, my husband was killed in Iraq on the 29th, the funeral was saturday and my neighbor was taking care of the cats. the momma must have moved them sometime then becasue they were not in the same place i left them, why would you guys be so quick to judge me.

I'm glad the kittens are eating now. I hope they make it through!
And I'm very sorry for your husband.

You should really go and see a vet and get them checked over!
But that is abit weird that they were locked in a room, whoever was looking after them must of shut the door. Maybe you should ask your neighbour if they shut the door!
Kittens can not survive 4 days without food, did someone feed them while you were away?

You may have to cut the nipple on the bottle. I had to bottle feed kittens that were a week old. I had to cut the nipple. First try getting a nipple hot with a litter and make you several holes in the nipple. if that doesn't work. cut a slit in the end of the nipple with a knife. Put the bottle in the kittens mouth and squeeze it before check this first to see how much milk comes out. put the bottle to the side of the mouth don't squeeze to hard or you will cause milk to go in to there lungs. They will soon get the hang of it and suck a bottle down before long. Try putting the momma cat in the bed room with them first. Good Luck

Warm up the kitten formula first (just like for a human baby) and use an eye dropper to feed them, but be prepared to lose at least one. Call the vet for further advice.
If you had a cat with kittens-especially if it was her first litter (believe it or not, sometimes cats don't know how to take care of their kittens) why didn't you have someone check up on them while you were away?

Good morning...
you have some options...
A) You can continue your effort with mother's milk replacement and the kitten bottles...eventually the'll take it. If not you may want to consider force feeding with an eye dropper. (My preferance - but you should be emotionally prepared to lose one.)
B) You can take them to the local vet for a check up and advice...usually -after a check up, they can refer you to a shelter.
(This might cost you some money)
C) You can take them to the Humane Society
(This to me isn't the best of choices because they typically euthanise after 30 days.) Always a good question to ask first before turning them in - anywhere - "Do you Euthanise animals?".
I hope this helps a little bit.
if you are going to do this alone...the kittens need to be close to you and a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.
Offer warm milk often...force feed with an eye dropper.
Good luck

Please give those kittens some milk ASAP!!!! They are still little so I am pretty sure they won't be able to survive so long without any food... If they still don't want to eat/ drink the kitten formula milk that you bought, I suggest that you should bring them to any nearest vet ASAP!!!! The doctors should know what to do... So please don't delay/ wait any longer... Their lives depend on you... So what are you waiting for??? Act quick!!!!
Ooh... Poor little kittens... I really hope that they will survive... Amen...

Ohhh 8 days are very young, at their age they should eat milk 3 times at least a day. You should save them before they die and try to feed them. You can drop milk in their mouth by using the bottle of eye drop after filling it with milk and you have to do it even if they don't want to eat or otherwise they will die of hunger.
