I heard this one from answers that appeared on a recent question. Apparantly, I am supposed to love Jesus more than anyone in the world, even my own mother and father. More than my mother and father, who gave me all they could, even if it meant a little sacrifice on their part. More than the both of them, who give me more love than I could ever imagine. More than the both of them, who explain to me why bad things happen in the world and why I should be a good person, no matter what others tell me. Why should I love someone, who I've never met, who was probably a false prophet, who lived over 2000 years ago; why should I love HIM more than my own mother and father, who've done more for me than someone's teachings could have? Why should I appease someone who expects me to do so, when I have parents who don't expect me, but I choose to anyway?

The bibel was scrawled by ignorant men living in primitive times. Thankfully, 5 billion people living today have sense enough NOT to believe it. Furthermore, generations of people lived for 300,000 years before Jesus. Of course, that's only SCIENTISTS who say that...the same people who invented your computer and cell phone.

Because Jesus loved you even before you were born, even before you were even a spec in your mothers womb. Jesus created you as well as your parents. Your mother and father mearly helped bring you into this world. Let us not forget the Commandment that states 'Honor thy Mother and thy Father' It is alright to truely love your parents, but Jesus will always love you through the good and the bad, thick and the thin, through everything.
Your parents may have provided you with all that you've needed, but can they say that they died for you? As well as billions of people to acost for your and their sins?

Hi!

This is a natural question to ask...I do see your point of view but I would like you to take time to see why we should choose Jesus Christ to love Him more than our families...

1. Your family can disappoint you anytime, but Jesus won't.They may hate you if you committed certain mistakes but Jesus will always love you even as a worst sinner. He died for rapists, child abusers, murderers etc. May be you are a "lovable person" anyway...that's why your family loves you...but let's see if they will love you if you, for example, raped your sister or are gay!

2. While your family have displayed love to you, in most cases, it was for them and for you...I will show you and example...if someone says "sorry I offended you", he may actually mean one of the following:

2.1 "Sorry I got caught. You got to the bottom of my motives"

2.2 "I'm saying sorry to you so that I would not have to suffer the unfavourable I am likely to receive from you if I don't"

2.3 "I'm sorry...I have to say this because I will need your help very soon"

Once you meet Jesus Christ, you will realise the importance of Him.Christ is not a created being, He is God the Creator of heaven and earth...He is the beginner and the ender of things...He created your family and everything they live on...

God bless you...

it just really shows how little u know about christianity, if u talk to Jesus and pray and read His Word then u will know him like he is your best friend, He is the one that gave u life in the first place, when noone else is there for u He will be, He will provide what u need in life if u need help getting. u don't really know love if u don't know Jesus, and when u die, your parents aren't the ones thats going to keep u from going to hell!!!

If you believe that Jesus is God (I do), and you believe that the Bible is the word of God (I do), there are a few things to remember:

1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart...

2) Jesus is God

3) You can only (truly) love others if you first love God

1John 4:7-8 (MKJV) "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. The one who does not love has not known God. For God is love."

"And this is love that we walk according to His Commandments." 2John 1:6 (MKJV)

"This is my commandment that you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" John 15:12-13 (KJV)

Jesus' disciples left their lives behind to be his followers. All he had to do was ask and they did it.

If Jesus' asked you, would you be able to do it? I would, 'cos my parents know I love them with all my heart and leaving them doesn't mean that I don't. It just means that I feel good enough about my love for them to follow Jesus.
