First of all, restaurants do not make money on a glass of water. Unless water is sold, it is not profitable at all. Also depending on where you are, coca cola may be healthier for you than water. As water may be contaminated.

They sell bottled water in machines now as much as they do coca cola

Because coca-cola has a manufacturer, bottler, marketer, and sales strategist. We have been CONVINCED that it is the most refreshing thing out there.

Cold water just has ice.

It is sad and it is because of commercialism, even some resturant refuses to give plain water and insist on buying cola. we should consume less cola and more water

It is the law of supply and demand. If more people asked for cold water, it would be available. Businesses supply what the customers want.
