Revelation

The prophecies of a future end-times Day of the Lord are given through eight Old Testament prophets:

Isaiah- 2:10-22, 13:6-13
Ezekiel- 13:5
Joel- 1,2,3
Amos- 5:18-20
Obadiah- 1:15-17
Zephaniah- 1, 2:1-3
Zechariah- 14:1-9
Malachi- 4:5

The New Testament also contains three texts which are very important to the study of the Day of the Lord:

Thessalonians 5:1-11
Thessalonians 2:1-4
Peter 3:9-10

In addition to the Book of Revelation....the Old Testament verse the New Testament author referenced was; ** Joel 2:31, "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come."

Joel 2:31 The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes.

Revelation 6:12-13 I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood. The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.

Acts 2:20 The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

Mat 24:29 Mark 13:24 Luke 21:25 Rev 8:12 the moon is darkened and
in Acts 2:20 Rev 6:12 the moon turns to blood

The physical preceeds the spiritual. Revelations is symbolic also of spiritual things. So the sun and moon being darkened is caused by a solar eclipse where the moon covers the sun. This could speak spiritually of the church ( believers in Christ) not giving the light of Christ and actually becoming so bad they do not reflect Christs light so people can't see Christ in Christians. I think that is happening these days.
The moon is to reflect the light of the sun as Christians are to reflect the light of Christ. The moon turning to blood could mean the christians are covered in the atoning blood of Christ. That means they would be seen by God the Father as purified.
