Hi, I am sorry to hear for your loss. My husband and I lost our baby due to a blighted ovum and had a d&c the very next day, which was july 27th of this year. i am now 7 weeks post op and finally got my period sunday. My ob told me that it was safe to try again this cycle, i was only 8 weeks. After a lengthly talk with her about the safety, this is what i have formed -

The later your pregnancy at its termination point - the longer you need to recover. I was only 8 weeks along, and the d&c cleared my uterus completely and allowed it to return to a normal cycle when it was ready. once this period is over (thursday) my uterus will have flushed itself and my body is ready to prepare for a pregnancy. The farther along you are, the more recovery your uterus needs. The return of your period is a good start - and if you were not that far along, after one cycle, your endometrial lining will rebuild and if you are fertile and time it right, conception and implantation (disreguarding any chromosonal issues) should take place.

Just the same, another girl i know here went through the same thing and her doctor DID tell her 3 cycles. I consulted my physician and she says that if it's an early pregnancy loss, normally the first cycle is healthy to start over... but that many doctors believe women also need the existance of that 3 months to heal emotionally more than physically... or just as well.

I don't know how far along your pregnancy was, but if you are emotionally ready, discuss the risks with your physician and move forward. if you are healthy and meant to concieve right away, your body will allow it. if not, your body will do as it deems necessary.

My heart goes out to you as we hope to conceive this cycle and i know your anxiety. If your ob said you are healthy enough to try after your first cycle, she wouldnt lie to you and risk your health and the baby's.

Good luck to you!! Hope i helped!

It's okay! Well, what I recommend doing is getting a free pregnancy test from planned parenthood! =) CONFIDENTIAL, no parents needed, and FREE =) YOU could also have your b/f buy you a pregnancy test from the store, and take the test away from your house some noone sees the package. If you wanna go the planned parenthood way, be careful, there are FAKE ANTI ABORTION places out there who pretend to be PP by offering free tests. TO FIND A PP near you 1-800-230-plan Follow the instructions..IF you tell me what state you are in, I can give you a list too =) That might be easier.. A "JUDICIAL BYPASS" is a process which most clinics can help you with, so this wil make things easier! BASICALLY what happens is you explain to a judge WHY you cannot tell your parents, usually most teens say it is because their parents are against abortion and they don't feel safe telling their parents... You also have to prove you are mature enough to KNOW why you want an abortion, etc..You basically act mature, and tell them you are afraid tot ell your parents. You don't have to mention your boyfriends age.... So I am going to explain everything to you, and if you have ANY questions, please ask!! I want you to update me =) Because I am going to try and guide you through all of this okay? Step 1..You need to take a pregnancy test, because you cannot worry about abortion until you are pregnant. So First you need a pregnancy test. STEP 2: Some states do not require parental consent, you may live in one of those states, and if you do all you need is to have some money and make an apt..THERE are also charities I can put you into contact with to help pay for an abortion for you, Okay? New York California Illinois washington DC New Jersey AND A FEW OTHERS.. IF you can tell me your state, I can tell you if they require consent. YOU CAN BYPASS PARENTAL CONSENT IN any state!! BASICALLY what you do is call an abortion clinic that you want the abortion performed at, Okay? Then you tell them you are a minor and need a "JUDICIAL BYPASS" THE PROCESS IS FREE! The abortion clinic will help you through it! Can your boyfriend drive you?Do you have anyone who can help you get to these places? YOU DO not need parental consent, but you do need a bypass, which can be obtained fairly quickly! Please ask me anything if you need help! I can help you through this abortion process, please stay in touch, okay? Abortion is not free, so if you have a job start saving some money. Basically you need to call an abortion clinic close by you, [your g/f calls them] and explain to them that you need a judicial bypass because you cannot get parental consent. They are usually VERY happy to help you through this process. I WILL PM you for more info.. if you'd like.

You are supposed to wait 3 months after a miscarriage to try and conceive again. I can't believe your doctor said after 1 normal cycle. You should get a second opinion. I had a miscarriage and was told 3 months. I also know 2 people who recently had miscarriages and were told 3 months as well. This was by 3 different doctors. None of us had to have a D&C and I would think that might require even more time. I would wait if I were you, better safe than sorry. Good luck conceiving whenever you decide to try.

I had a misscarriage and was told by my Dr to wait 6 months. I did not have to have a D & C. I would think that if you have had one, you most definatly should wait at least 3 months. The goal is to be a s healthy as possible before concieving. Let you body get well rested and in better condition. It will be better for you and your baby, should you conceive again. I know how hard it is when you really want a baby, trust me. I am 44 now, but was 42 when I got pregant (after at least 6 misscarriages) Now I have a 22 onth old and an 11 month old. . Be patient and be healthy before you try again. I wish you all the luck in the world so that you can get pregnant and carry to full term to have a beautiful little baby.

My doctor recommended a gap of around 2 menstrual cycles (3 months) or more after my d&c. This is to make sure the uterus is strong enough to endure pregnancy. Wishing you all the luck.
