When children muck up, there is usually a root cause; we can change their behaviour if we find out what is causing that behaviour. Usually, the parents are not meeting the child's needs in one way or another. Parents have to be taught how to change their behaviour in order to straighten out the child.
Similarly, If the Muslim people are so dissatisfied with the policies of Western Society that it drives some to blow themselves and others up; and go to such great lengths to destroy America etc, they must have something very powerful to say that we could learn from.
When one fully understands the problem, surely, we can then come to a compromise which everyone can live peacefully by.
I realise this is the 'real world', but we won't have one at all, the way we are going, so why not give dialogue a chance? it can't hurt the way bombs can, it can't destroy lives the way war can, it might even help if we have the guts to try ANYTHING FOLKS!!!!

In answer to George T who said "Who would do it".
I was thinking of the bands that are progressive and do 'Live aid' concerts etc.
These people can bring it to the fore and importantly to the future generation. It takes education and publicity I think.

The major problem as I see it is that the Muslim people have no respect for peoples of differing beliefs. Therefore they will not talk to us or respect our point of view.
As long as people refuse to respect others points of view and their right to have one, male or female no compromise will happen.
Look at our own bloody history...the Civil War was fought to give freedom to a people...and here we are in 2006, STILL trying to get it right. We still have large pockets of people who are raciest and refuse to even show common courtesy to anyone who isn't "white". Least they forget that the majority of the southern states were penile colonies before we were the USA. How can we dare assume that we can solve anyone else's problems when we can't fix our own? Personally I think we should put all the worlds leaders in a room and lock the door. Let them fight each other....if they had to really deal with one another without all the assistants and pomp and bull maybe they could actually get something good done for us all.

Yes that would be great if it wasnt for the fact that no compromise will be reached by either side because 1. the US will not back down to an enemy and 2. the terrorists while being united in cause are seperate and there for dont listen to each other mindlessly like most folks here listen to there gov spoon feed them lies in the hopes of gaining more power.

lets hope peace shines through, its scrary the situation our governments have made, we arnt leaving this world in very good steed for future generations are we? all i know is i have met and worked for many muslims and you could not meet nicer people, a bunch of so called muslims acting out like they have done, should not set a guide on how we should treat all muslims. for every 10 people you are guarenteed there will be a bad egg or two in the bunch no matter what race.

You got the key thing right. That is that both parties need to talk it out. But who can and will. Clinton did have that power and charm to get 2 rivals to shake hands. Bush? You got to be joking.
