my bf, then at the time ex's-in july-were hanging out and my ex at the time which now is my again bf gave me a James Avery ring with the words "True Love Waits" inscribed on it. tonite i was hanging out with my hun and we started talking about jewelry and i wanted to give him an example of how you can tell silver from other metals. i know that silver has the # 925 inscribed inside the ring or it is visible to the eye so you can tell if it is silver or fake. my hun told me that my ring is not silver but rather white gold. the thing is that he also told me that he customized and special ordered the ring. how can i tell the difference between the silver and white gold ring-which ever it may be- since i have been to the James Avery website and they have this ring only in yellow gold? what does he mean with this ring: is he serious about me and the whole realtionship?

I would take the ring to a jeweler and ask if your ring is white gold. The ring may have been available in white gold at the time he bought it but have been removed from the website since then, I think the ring means he is very serious about your relationship unless he really is lying about the metal. He is probably a little hurt that he bought you white gold and you've been assuming it's fake silver this whole time but he didn't get mad or anything and you stuck with him thinking he gave you a cheesy fake ring so I think you'll be great together once you know the truth.

Who cares, obviously you, but anyways on to my point. Your boyfriend gave you a ring that you suspect of being silver not white gold as he has suggested. This indicates to me that you feel you cannot trust your boyfried to tell you the truth, so uh why are you with him? If you feel your boyfriend would lie to you about a simple gift how serious are you about the relatinship? The truth of the matter is that he gave you a gift to show that he loves you not how much money he makes, either enjoy it or have it appraised. If you lean towards enjoying it then your relationship has a chance otherwise if you appraise it, you will never be able to trust him.

I have a white gold wedding band, and if your ring was whit gold it would have a stamp on the inside saying what carat it is, (example: mine says 10k)

they sale alot of silver at james avery. take it to the retailer where he purchased it

if it's silver it will have 925 stamped in it, if it's while gold, it will have 10k-14k stamped in it. if it has neither one, watch out!
