keep the small one in the bathroom and let him know it is available. Then keep reminding him throughout the day that the stinky poo poo is not good for his cloths and it makes things smell bad. We actually saw our son getting red in the face while taking a dump in his pants. It was kinda funny watching him struggle but when we confronted him he said he did not poo poo. So we played along for a while commenting on wow what is that smell? must be the dog. Come here son sit over here so we can play blocks. After he got all fidgety from a few minutes siting in poo we didn't have to say much. He caught on to the awful feeling and by himself he made it to the little potty and then moved on.

My son does the same thing!! I feel so much better now knowing that I am not the only one with this problem. I spoke to my sons doctor about it and she said that it could be two things, one: he might just not be comfortable with it yet but to keep asking him if he needs to, two: he could be constipated. She said that alot of times kids won't want to go poop at all because they simply are having a hard time doing it so they just avoid it all together. I'm not quite sure which problem my son has yet but we're still working on it. Patience i suppose will be the best thing! Good luck!

had the EXACT same problem with my daughter... got to the point where I had to start throwing away her "pretty" underwear everytime she went poop in them. Pick a day... sit with him in the bathroom around his usual "poop-time" and wait. Read a book or something. When he DOES go (and this may be gross) but don't flush it right away! As disgusting as it is, that is an accomplishment for your son! Let it sit for a few minutes & make a HUGE deal out of it! Call gramma or someone he's close to so that he can announce it. It will get better, I promise. :)

I wouldn't push it!!! I pushed my daughter too early to potty train and it back fired. She's now Almost 4.5 yrs and just now she's doing it. What I've learned from these two years of trying to potty train from experts, books, articles and people....LEAVE HER ALONE, when she is ready she will go! Encourage positive behavior, Ignore negative. Kids feel that they only thing they can control in their environment are eating and going to the bathroom and they will use it as a source of "you can't tell me what to do when they are frustrated"
The best thing you can do is explain and talk and leave the deed up to him, when he is ready he will do it and then you'll be proud.

i raised daughters and they were easy to potty train...i have heard that boys don't mind getting dirty and therefore don't mind pooping in their pants....when i trained my daughters i put a larger tshirt on them and no pants and made it really easy for them to do the bathroom thing..it worked for me.......

there are actually kid friendly videos and books for mom and dad on this subject. Try not to fret over it, that just upsets kids.
