Boiling water or chlorine will kill off the bacteria from the human waste but it will not eliminate the lead. And there will still be particulate matter if the water is not filtered. Typically a filtration system involves several passes through beds of active carbon. But even that may not eliminate lead pollution. That needs to be dealt with at the source.

Boiling will kill bacteria and germs but will not remove any minerals or metals such as lead.
Your best bet would be to get a Reverse Osmosis water purification system. You will then be drinking pure water. It will even remove the clorine.
Check eBay. you can get a good 6 stage system for under US $ 100.00. some for around US $ 50.00 or so. The filters are good for a year, and the RO Membrane is good for about 2 and 1/2 years.
Take care of yourself now, that water situation does not sound good.

Boiling will kill parasites, viruses and bacteria but metals such as lead have to be filtered. You best bet is to buy a filter or if practical distill your water. The lead mine may may be imparting other chemicals or contaminants into the water as well.

Boiling and chlorine will kill any microbes that the human waste puts in the water but it will not remove the waste itself or remove lead.

yeah, I agree with the other guy, I don't think boiling the water is gonna do the trick. I mean, if I took a hot steamy dump in a pot of water and boiled it for an hour, I still don't think I would wanna drink the juice afterwards, ya know?? it's kinda like that.

Boiling won't delete or change or kill lead.
Chlorine should fix the $hit. So does boiling.

I'm not a reclamation authority, but I'd say the water has to be run through more than a boiling point (like charcoal or something), and be exposed to oxygen before it could be reclaimed....even then, I wouldn't want to drink it... how long could that exposure and treatment take anyway? eeeeeeeeuuuuuuuu

Boiling and chlorine will kill the bacteria and germs but does nothing to the lead toxicity.

No, boiling only serves to kill living organisms in the water...if anything it will concentrate the lead.

To kill off lead you'd need to reach the boiling point of lead (3180 °F).
Boiling will aid in disinfection, which will most likely rid your water of fecal coliforms (human waste).
