Doctor put me on Zoloft for depression 3 weeks ago. I could tell the difference in 2 days. But I'm definatly not happier! I'm not crying as easily which is great, but I feel almost agitated now! I also feel much more self conscience! Is this normal for this drug?

Cher - I asked a ligitamate question and I think it's pretty arrogant of you to assume I'm just feeling sorry for myself!

A good kind sympathetic counselor can be a huge help in these situations. Have you tried an exercise program? See if you can find a friend who will walk or jog with you or go to the gym regularly. See Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine for all kinds of good advice on mental health and natural alternatives in depression and anxiety.
Good luck and God bless!

I was put on it too when me and my husband were fighting , man , I had so much self conscience that all the things he's been saying finally made sence. And well, in short terms, I told him to stick it and I want an divorce. it is probably good for you to be this way. if you need to continue to take it , take it . But try to do something else to help with your depressed state. (diary, talking to people about the setation . then get off the meds.

Shouldn't be normal and it sounds terrible. Talk to your doctor. He might just up your dosage though. You might need a new doctor or a new drugless strategy to dealing with your depression. Anti-depressants made me realise that being depressed is better than being depressed and on ssris. Good luck!

I don't know much about zoloft...but I would see your doctor again....my doctor put me on effexor xr and warned me ahead of time of the initial effects(weird) that it would have on me. Good luck.

It always amazes me why people feel the need to resort to drugs for a solution. Why don't you just go visiting a terminally ill department of a childrens' hospital and talk to some terminally ill children?...You know....try to get THEIR minds off THEIR depression. Try to give THEM hope...TRY to make them SMILE...TRY to help them see the POSITIVE things that will make their days better.

In other words, my dear...GET YOUR MIND OFF YOURSELF.

I'd get something else as long as it's not prozac, that stuff will drive you nuts.
I use to be on PAXIL . works wonders for me.
