Well, I agree that our society as a whole has drifted away from the old fashioned family values in a lot of ways... and it's been a big disaster! BUT I don't blame women necessarily. Perhaps if men had been more appreciative back in the day and treated women with respect and valued their contribution rather than expecting it (and had been faithful, etc)... then perhaps women would have continued to want to please men and put family before career. Plus, American society is a very independent minded society. Unlike other cultures who value family and each individuals roles in the family group, Americans think you need to not only have a family but also a career to afford to buy the big house and the big car, etc. It's all about what we're taught to value as children (and our shallow society values material riches and personal career achievements more than a well-behaved kid sometimes, sadly.) I hope that the focus shifts back more toward family again... but I hope that this time it will be more balanced (with both men and women contributing equally and lovingly).

Men are made to provide for the family.
Women are made to nurture the family.
However, in this new age, women are expected to provide for the family & share the burden with thier husbands. Therefore, women also expect their husbands to help them nurture the family. There is no right or wrong.
Providing for the family is important to meet the basic needs, Food, Shelter & Clothing. Nuturing the family is just as important, Love, Time & Concern. Therefore, it's not wrong to ask for "equal rights". Please appreciate what the other have to offer & not focus on what you've to offer that he / she can't.
It is important that both husband & wife are compatible & work together to last a long marriage. If both of them marry for the wrong / selfish reasons, it's inevitable to end up in divorce as both are moving towards different directions.
Even in these modern times, women can still always be supportive of their husbands. And men also can be supportive of their wives. The essence of upholding family values can still be applicable.

A fallen marriage, both parties play a part. Family values belong to the families, not solely on the woman. Women should have the equal right, as they share half credit for the economics development.

It's not an issue of what women are demanding or that we don't value our families. Marriage is something that people used to work at, people would spend time with their families and take pride in thataccomplishment. Modern Marriages are more like roomate arrangements. Someone to share your place without needing an extra bed. All marraiges are of convenience because there's little time for them to be anything else.

When women have legal equality with men and exercise those rights, typically society benefits in number of ways.
The birthrate tends to fall and smaller families lead to better educated children and more stable families. In addition, the infant mortality rate drops.
Compare Yemen and Sweden. Which country would you rather live in?

what happened to the men working to support the family or upholding those family values?
BTW....I do agree with you, the family values in this country have gone to HELL....but it's not just because of women....society as a whole is to blame....if you ask me, it all boils down to not being able to discipline our children w/o fear of going to jail....back when kids got a good old fashioned "@ss whipping," they knew how to act, and it stuck with them as they grew up and started their own families......

it is because of men that women dont have an equal say in anything and it is wrong. women are just as equal as men in every way. mens strength is in their upper body and womens is in lower body. women are just as smart too.
it takes 2 to tango. if men would play an equal part, then women wouldnt have to fight so hard to be equal -- in other words women do more then men and get less for it!!!!!
