Just to clarify my contexts of the words "wise" and "intelligent":

A wise person who is able to weigh which is more important in life.

An intelligent person is the one who is able to get to the bottom of academic answers.

Do we call people who are able to remember or memorize information "Intelligent" just because of that ability?

I would prefer wisdom to intelligence.

Wisdom is uncommon in people, and the wise persevere.

Intelligence is overrated. You can be a genius but have no common sense, thus setting you back a few paces.

I believe a wise person is very intelligent, using their instincts naturally. That intelligence in the same person, can have just as much wisdom to move smoothly through any situation. They are so similar, I would like a huge handful of both to keep me happy.
I'm dyslexic and numbers make me crazy,so I memorize all this stuff b/c its transposed to me. Does that mean I am intelligent? Or wise? good question

I would rather be wise because like you said if you can remember or memorize basic facts then you can get to any academic answer or pass any IQ test to be considered "intelligent" but a wise person can see right through the intelligent one ;)

Sorry for asking, but is this question even relevant to the "Religion & Spirituality" forum? I don't think so. But..having said that, here's my view on this question. The Bible says "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..." Many times the Bible exhorts the reader to seek wisdom. The intelligent person seeks after the need to know it all, the pride of knowledge that puffs up. The wise person seeks to know what is needful, to make the right/best decision. My closing line: He who seeks God is wise!

I think you are wise enough to know which is the more intelligent choice :

I however would chose wisdom over intelligence but I would also chose enlightenment over wisdom...both wisdom and intelligence involve mental processes wheras enlightenment involves a higher form of conscious presence than either intelligence or wisdom

An intelligent person is one who comprehends information and experience not one who memorizes data. A wise person is one who judiciously applies knowledge acquired in this way.

Wisdom over intelligence.

Wisdom is a grace given us from God. With it we can discern His will for us and come to know God better.

Intelligence is not necessarily a bad thing, however, there are a lot of very intelligent people who will go to Hell because they have become so educated and full of themselves because of their newly acquired knowledge, that God has been excluded from their lives.

Wisdom can bring knowledge and intelligence but rarely does intelligence bring with it wisdom.

WISE, wisdom is deeper than being merely intelligent.

Wisdom implies deep understanding of a thing.

Intelligence implies only a mere knowledge of a thing.

Wisdom adds depth to intelligence.

Wise people are born intelligent. Intelligent people are made wise.

Why not both? Part of wisdom is being able to put intelligence to practical use.

As for the last part: yes, provided that they have an apt comprehension of that information, and know what's related and behind it. You generally don't see unintelligent people with copious amounts of knowledge that they understand do you?
