I'm pretty sure that it is against FCC regulations & the beer administers' & advertisers' of commercials that no one consumes the alcoholic beverage in the ad. Good grief! They'd all be drunk by the time the ad aired. Not to mention, did you notice for the past few years you don't see a label of anyone drinking a beer? You have an inklling of what they're drinking but not the full label. That's the FCC.

They can't do it on TV. In fact if they do drink a beer then the Ratings Board will pull the commercial.
It's a double standard, because actors can drink beer on TV shows and in movies, but they can't do it on a commercial. Blame it on our Puritan Ethic, but mostly blame it on the out dated rules and the silly standards of the Ratings Board. Many movie directors and producers have no idea why one movie gets a NC rating.
There are other silly regulations for liquor. In my state a liquor store can’t use the displays created by the beer companies in their windows. The displays have to be at least 10 back from the window. It’s a stupid law and makes no sense, but then I live in a dry county. Most of the state is wet, a few local areas can sell beer so are damp, and a very few are still dry. Which is real stupid, because just outside the city limits of a dry city they always build a liquor store. There is a locally run liquor store that seems to only build its stores on these borders. This means that the state and the wet counties get their share of alcohol taxes, and they get them from the dry areas to. The only loser is the dry sector that misses out on the liquor taxes.
The restaurants in the area don’t want to stop selling liquor that is where they get a lot of their profit from. One rule is that you can serve liquor in a dry county if you do it in a private club. So the restaurant industry created a “private club.” You have to be the drinking age or older and must show your driver’s license to join. There are no other rules, and once you get your “club membership” card it is valid all over the area. If a person lives out of state, they can get their “club membership” in two minutes in any restaurant. That’s it, then you can legally order as much booze as you want, in any county even dry ones.
Americans have hampered themselves with many of these kind of stupid laws and regulations. People can drink alcohol in a commercial, but if they do then the Ratings Board gets mad and threatens any station that airs the ad. They have the final say, even though they are not members of the FCC and have no legal power, but the Ad Industry doesn’t want to get banned by them so they submit to their rules.
NOTE: The FCC used to make all alcohol commercials illegal, but they repealed that rule and allowed companies to advertise for alcohol, after doing a year of public service announcements. The never ruled on whether alcohol can be drunk in the commercial, they allow it. But, the beer companies are facing a much older rule put out by the Ratings Board.

There are FCC limitations on the ingesting of alcohol on television - you're no longer allowed to coach somebody ingesting alcohol on community or broadcast television. Cable is distinctive - this is why you will see Tony Soprano drink on HBO, and so on, yet by no skill see every person on a Bud easy commercial on ABC actual take a sip.

It's against the law to show someone drinking. If you see it on a commercial, it isn't the real thing.

They always refer to it - to make you thirsty - you are sitting there imagining them drinking it and then they don't then you think about drinking it and then you crack open a cold one.
