I know so many Christians who say that tattooing is wrong... but why? Most Christians refer to this verse
lev 19:28 "you shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead, or tattoo yourselves; I am the Lord."
But I think that it's out of context the verses before it say
verse 26 says "you shall not eat any flesh with the blood in it". So philipinos, no more blood pudding and for the Irish folks you've got to give up black and white pudding (which actually might be a good idea anyway). verse 27 says "you shall not round off the hair on your temple or mar the edges of your beard." got that guys? no more trimming your beard or the hair on your temples, you've gotta let it grow like the hasidics.
So why does that verse get so picked upon when we clearly don't follow the rest of the rules?
I don't have tattoos just because i don't like pain, not because i think it's wrong. Do you think that Christians can have tattoos that are glorifying to god?

As for being judged... that's the last thing I'm worried about. I'm going to be judged regardless of how I live my life! Someone will always dissaprove!
Oh, and my nose is just fine, thanks :-)

I guess i don't get why people take little parts of the bible and make a huge issue out of them. Yet ignore other things and deem them culturally sound. Where does the bible say that tattoos are wrong other then those old testament verses? Yeah your body is a temple, but how many fat people are Christians? Obviously they're not taking care of their temple, but no one would point that out because they're being PC right? (I'm not dissing overweight people, I'm not thin myself) I just don't get why people are so stuck on one aspect and ignore others. If your relationship with God is that.. a relationship, then why focus on the rules so much?

Tattoos are against Old Testament laws. You can get tattoos if you are a Christian. Jesus did away with most of the Old Testament rules and regulations, when he said that he is the "Way and the Truth and the Light", Jesus wants you to love your brother as yourself and make that your priority, not wether or not you have tattoos. That is the best that I can do this late at night.

Which came first, a biblical condemnation of tattoos, or a societal condemnation of tattoos? Tattoos have been dubbed "taboo" and attricuted to the rebels of society independent of holy mandates. But when the bible can be used to back up an already popular viewpoint, I think you'll find many Christians jump at the opportunity of pointing it out. That book has more subjective interpretations than Shakespeare...perhaps we should be worried.

I think that alot of people get caught up on "things"..when your main concern should be on the condition of your heart and soul.
For a person to know good and do it not, it is a sin..to that person...
ei: it is a sin to me to smoke, but to others it is alright for them.
ei: drinking is a sin to me..tattoos are not a sin to me. You just have to listen to your heart...whatever it is that you feel, it is between you and God..and no one has the right to condemn you for the way that you believe or feel about it.
But like I said, our main concern should be the thing that God looks at...the inward part, not the outward part...because what it in the heart will start to show on the outside.

Tattooing is a old art form that started as a means of protection and scaring your enemy's.
as far as lev19:28 is concerned that seems to come from idolatry.
as far as not eating flesh with blood in it goes they is no part of the body that does not have some blood supply to it to bring the necessary nutrient's to it .unless it means to drain the blood from the meat first.

OMG. do u think god is going to look at people with tattoos and go 'ur not biblical' seriously. this is such a small thing the church wonders why it loses so many young people.
there are to many other things for anyone to give a hoot if someone has a tattoo or not.
sheesh

It says a LOT of things in Leviticus that pertained to Gods Law for Israel.
The New Covenant changed all of that, read about Jesus speaking of eating things that were deemed "unclean" in Leviticus.
Christ died for the sins of all mankind, taking the power of death AWAY from Satan who used sin as a way of condemning man.
I like my tattoo- a Celtic knotwork armband with a Celtic cross on it.

i had a jew that was my precher, converted to christian. who says that the main commandments to follow by is the 10. the other ones you are reading are the ones for jews that don't belive in Jesus. Christians need to focus more on the new testiment rather then the old.

Point taken. I think the Lord is more concerned about our hearts than if we have a tattoo or not.

What do you care? You religious bigots do a hell of a lot of study of Jewish religion to bash Christians. *******. Sarah is Jewish anyhow. Mind your own backyard or tell us why your people kill Palestinian children and if that's worse in God's eye's than a tatoo.

read the whole book; for then you'll see, God is telling moses the rules by which we should live. And you have the answer yourself; God said don't do it, now if you choose to go against it regardless, that's a chance you take, for when you go before H.I.M., remember, you can't say you didn't know.
