just doing something for someone....there's a lot of ppl out there who've not be blessed by good parents to go to, or having good friends to ask, and when someone is sincerely troubled, if my answer helps them...then it was worthwhile. My mother used to sing a song to me at night, "If I have wounded any soul today, If I have caused one foot to go astray, if I have walked in my own willful way, dear Lord ...forgive. " and then the second verse...I've kinda forgotten it (phooey), was kind of the reverse "If someone comes to me for help...." you know what I mean.
That's the motivation behind it---just to be the one who might be pivotol in causing a person to find help for themselves---or to give them hope --- that someone cares...! (?) bcz some of these sincere questions break my heart...and some of the people getting the right answer (you hope) find more friendship in you or me (one who answers them here) than they can in real life. (maybe?)

good question ,
because it makes you feel as if you are giving something back to the world ,and maybe be of service to someone
as well as meeting some interesting people ,and the fact that a certain amount of fame or infame is involved also helps to promote and satisfy vanity.
apart from that it is a platform to air your views, give your opinions ,beat up the baddies and praise the good ones
and you cant help learning new things
almost like being part of a forum
or reality show.

If I'm going to answer a question I might as well do a good job. Plus, I know what it is like to be lost and it's nice to help other people for a change instead of being the one who needs help.
However, I usually don't answer serious questions, largely because I don't have anything good to say. I perfer answering wacky questions.

people have opinions and know facts. some people have been through certain situations that others are going through. this is an easy way of getting things done and getting the answers you need. Instead of taking 7 hours to figure out how to print pictures off of your digi camera, you can post your Q and get answers in seconds. Instead of staying in an abusive relationship, you end it cause 25 people said you need to. majority rules. I love it. I love helping people with what i know, or even with what i think i know.

Human beings cannot live alone, they always need communication. You give knowledge, you get knowledge, just to sit dump and think why should I help anybody when I have not met him/her is waste of your own abilities. It is also fun to read what other people have to say, it increases our general knowledge, and we are updated with the present world. I thank Yahoo Answers, for giving this service. I am sure it is helpful to majority.

I think to get points so that the answer can be chosen as "BEST ANSWER" and receive 10 points. Others answer as a past time and if there is nothing left to do. Others want to share their knowledge in the topic if they are expert on it and have already experienced the problem specified.

For me, I just generally like to help people and give advice. I've been through things before, and knowing that my opinion or advice helps someone get through something or overcome something makes me feel glad that I was able to make a difference.

it's my sort of duty to help others ...i want to help and i always try to do so if i have a chance...it's the little things that count..and yahoo is giving us a chance to do those little things for each other...and i don't care who might want to use my advice or info...the most important thing is i m doing my part in helping others and that makes me feel good...it feel amazing when you know you have tried your best to help..it feels even better when you actually know that your help came in use to someone...it's just wonderful that there are so many people out there that are still ready to help others...it makes our world a better place for sure..

i think that it just makes you feel good to help someone with something. It also gives you a little pride because you realize that you know something that someone else doesnt. I personally like to see other peoples responses and see what I can learn as well.
