My friend just met a guy who says he's a drill "instructor" (which means USMC). However, he says he's stationed in Columbia, SC. I was under the impression that there was only one base in Columbia that trained new recruits & that would be Fort Jackson, which is Army, not Marines. I'm worried that he may be one of these guys that claims to be in the Marines just to try to impress people. Is there any way to get the names or photos of USMC Drill Instructors online?

Parris Island, SC
There's only two places you go for Marine Corp boot camp, first is Parris Island if your from the east coast and then Camp Pendleton for people on the west.

All of the Drill Instructors in the USMC for the Eastern half of the US are stationed at Parris Island. Is it possible that you assumed he was a Marine because he referred to himself as a drill instructor? He could be a drill sergeant for the Army or any other branch of the military and still be considered an instructor. Another possibility is that he is a Marine Drill Instructor training an elite group such as the Navy Seals. Since the Seals are so specialized, they utilize the best instructors (USMC Drill Instructors) in their branch of the military. Marines are a Department on the Navy.

have your friend ask to see his "really cool" military id - that she's never seen one blah blah.

if he produces one - he's probably still a di. if he doesn't show one - and acts a little funny - then he's probably lying.
