Cool, so you and a buddy wanna see who has a stronger punch, but arn't willing to hit one another. alright, here is one way to measure strength. find a strong sturdy backing (whether it be tree or a concrete wall) take an old milk jug and fill it with water and seal it up tight. attach it to the support and punch it. depending how much water comes out between the two of you would give you a better idea of who is stronger. but if you want a true idea of what it feels like the best way is to stand in the path of the blow from your buddy. got the guts?

A huge part of power punching is focus.

When you punch the punching bag, try to maintain proper balance and hit the bag (Don't throw your body into it). Aim for 3-5 inches beyond the bags surface.

Take your time. This is a drill and not a work out. be careful not to roll your wrist over.

As you get more comfortable with this, (It may take 1 or 2 weeks) you will see your speed and power increase. If the bag is "jumping" when you hit it, you are doing fine on power.

Looks like you want to "improve" punching power instead of comparing. To improve, hold an 8-pound dumbbell in each hand and shadowbox. Keep at it until you get adjusted and you will develop speed. Except that next time in a real encounter, aim low.

To compare punching power, go to the nearest boxing gym and request a sparring session. A professional boxer-opponent would be preferable.

Do it the anicent Greece way. You'll need a bar stool and a opponent.

You two start by sitting in eachother reaches, facing eachother.

You two take turn to punch at eachother face as hard as you can. You can't block the punch, move your head, or anything at all! You must remain perfectly still and let your opponent hit you. Once your opponent have landed a blow, he must stay still for you to land a punch of your own.

You two keep taking turn until one of you got knocked out.

Get some stupid volunteers and hit them to see who falls down first.
