Domaine de la Romanee-Conti in burgundy.

I like burgundy above all others (thought I also like other French wines, many Italian wines, and some Japanese wine). It is one of my major goals in life to one day enjoy a bottle of Romanee-Conti, the finest vineyards managed by DRC (they have a monopoly), though I have tried some of their other wines.

Here is one person's commentary on DRC:

Some of the best quality grapes in the world are in Australia (specifically the Coonawarra, Barossa, Hunter and Eden/Clare Valley)
When Australia was settled, cuttings of the finest vines in France were bought to Australia and planted within these regions. Shortly after that was done, France had a huge black spot plague and as a result over 80% of the vines were burnt to stop the spread. Most vines in France now are between 30-50 years old.

Now that said, Very good wines come from France, Australia, New Zealand, Suth Africa, Spain, Portugal, California... the list can go on and on.
With China coming into the market, wine will not increase in quality, but the value for money and the quality for money definatley will.
In my expereince, the best wines come from people who are passionate about their product. Anything mass produced (Yellowtail) or is owned by a large corporation (Constellation Brands, Fosters etc) is generally poor/average standard, but provides a name to drink and reasonable value for money.

My favourite styles (since the question was asked) are Petit Chablis/Chardonnay (french oak please.. American oak is too dry) Hunter Valley Semillon (there is really nothing quite like it) Drinking Stars (Champagne -like everyone else) and in the Reds a lovely Pinot from NZ, Shiraz from the Barossa, or a Chateau neuf du Pape from France.

There is no answer for this... every suitable country can make good wines, from California through Europe to Australia.
On the other hand, Europeans have more experience in wine making.

I'm not an expert, I like simple semi-sweet white wine without much acid. Brand doesn't matter to me.

I do not like wine. Because either you get the very expensive or you will end up drinking a type of vinegar mixed in a bizzare way. Very expensive ones are very good extremely appetizing and make your meal a beauty and a delight but at what price. Affordable wines do not exist in reality just in bulshitting people. The best are French Wines and they differ from region to region and the grapes they are made from are different from the ones made at vineyard to the next door. Wine is a huge industry and in france you will find lots of them the most inexpensive are the vins de table and the beaujolais, others escalate in price like hell

Without a question of a doubt, in my opinion, the finest wine comes from the Marlborough region in New Zealand.

In particular, I would recommend the Montana Sauvignon Blanc....

What you need to look for in good sauv blanc is a good complex gooseberry finish.

Believe me, when you have tried this - everything else that you have ever tasted will seem insignificant....

Expect to pay anything from £8 to £20 here in England.

I prefer a sweet wine. There is a wine called Duplin that is made in NC and they have the best wine that I've encountered so far.

The Farmers of the cape in South africa make the best wine. I like St. Claire. Its a delicious fruity wine of superb quality, although very affordable.

The wines of British Columbia, Canada are finally coming into their own, but I still prefer the richness that comes from a full bodied red from the South African coast.
