So basically...you are protecting us from who? Men? Well shouldn't you all have the self control to not harm/molest/rape/thinkdirtythoughts. The problem lies with you...not us. And, I don't dress slutty, but I sure as hell don't want to be covered from head to do because you can't control your penis. Give me a break.

Oh...and I don't wear the clothes I choose to be a "show piece", but for my own self-esteems sake. Shouldn't I love my body and not feel that it is a dirty thing?

Islam clearly teaches that a woman is a full-person under the law, and is the spiritual equal of a male. Also, according to Islamic Law, women have the right to own property, operate a business and receive equal pay for equal work. Women are allowed total control of their wealth, they cannot be married against their will and they are allowed to keep their own name when married. Additionally, they have the right to inherit property and to have their marriage dissolved in the case of neglect or mistreatment. Also, Islam does not consider woman an "evil temptress", and thus does not blame woman for the "original sin". Women in Islam participate in all forms of worship that men participate in. Actually, the rights that Islam gave to women over 1400 years ago were almost unheard of in the West until the 1900s. Less than fifty years ago in England and America, a woman could not buy a house or car without the co-signature of her father or husband!

Islam is winning Western women admirers despite hostile media coverage It is even more ironic that most British converts should be women, given the widespread view in the west that Islam treats women poorly. In the United States, women converts outnumber men by four to one, and in Britain make up the bulk of the estimated 10, 000 to 20, 000 converts, forming part of a Muslim community of 1 to 1.5 million.

Yes, as a Muslim woman, i find the way woman are treated in Saudi Arabia is completely deplorable and it makes me sick to my stomach and so, so angry. their rules are not in the Qur'an, they are idiotic Wahhabi's, and i don't hesitate to use the word idiotic. they are so far from following true Islam and how women are to be treated that it's is a crime against humanity, an apartheid against women is not Islamic. a woman should not be forced to wear a hijab in the Qur'an, infact the word hijab is not actually mentioned anywhere when talking about women's dress in the Qur'an. and yes, you don't have to wear a hijab to dress modestly and and it should not be there as a protection if men can't control their penis. please, non-Muslims this was directed at Muslims so if you only have hateful, ignorant or racist things to say then don't bother. If you are truly interested in finding out about Islam, away from all the myths and lies i strongly suggest you go to and spend some time exploring:

In a society everyone should take a step towards ridding 'evil'

In islam men are supposed to lower their gaze as well. Now as far as women the institution of the hijab is also a means of protecting women from being harassed as well.

024.030
Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.

So if you think its all just about control then it should be perfectly ok for you to walk around naked then.

The only thing that i can think of is the fact that the women are not allowed to drive. I think thats ridiculous.

as a Muslim i must say that their Traditions have taken over their religion!! women in Saudi Arabia are denied many rights but NOT because of Islam it's because of how this Bedouin society thinks.

it's ALL about the Customs and Traditions

I've read many researches from Muslim scholars stating that the way Saudi Arabia is governed is not Islamic anyway. It is the royal family over there who are stating all the rules. They change it every now and then and try to make it sound as if its Islamic, and the sheep will believe.

Well, i think theyre being treated fairly.. The way they wear, is actually at their own will. Besides, its written in the Koran, that they shud cover themselves to avoid any unwanted attention. It is to reduce men from checking over women. N to let avoid women from showin off their beauty, which will lead to the feel that shes prettier than others. It does also avoid rape n free sex, which spread many disease..

In pagan religion, the goddess is worshiped. The creator of life, the mother of earth. You all should learn to respect women, without them, you would not be here!

I think they live honorable lives.
no need to work, drive, fight in wars.
Those are what men are supposed to do.

Just cook, wash, have children, take care of them and be the master of the house. The children grow up seeing their mothers all the time. They develop closer family ties. The families never seperate or divorce.

What's wrong with that... Every society has its own culture and tradition and if that suits them, so be it...

I agree with yoiu. In my opinion the way women are treated is deplorable, dispicable....I'm a muslim but i don't wear the hijab i don't cover myself like the women in Saudi Arabia do however im not dressed as a slut. It's my life and most of all its not what you wear its how you present yourself. I wear short shorts in SUmmer becuase the summer in australia is soooo hot and also becuase it is my own right.. but then i don't flirt and act as if im going to die if a boy is not looking at me, i couldn't care any less!!In my native country you will see that women wear the head scaft (tudung in my languange) becuase it is the culture and tradition over there, if one women don't wear the head scarft and the baju kurung, she will be like stigmatised, a majority of women that i see wear the tradional dress only becuase its what a majority of women wear; they feel left out if they don't wear the head scaft..
SOmetimes women who wear the tradional dress but behave like a *****, like a slut, flirt and talk rude and inappropriately.
Some ppl would say that in Saudi Arabia there is a low divorce rate: don't really believe it....because when men sleep around or betray thier wife's trust, that itself is a divorce. I believe that it is very likely that divorce is spoken a lot, so there is no such thing that by dressing the whole garment you will keep your husband and have a happy marriage happy life. Baloney!!ABSOLUTELY NONSENSE!!!CRAP!!

Yes its true in the quran it does state that women is to dress modestly and behave accordingly but sometimes you see that wome are dressed modestly but don't act accordingly. The role of women to stay at home, clean, cook, wash, take care of the kids etc.. Yeah i agree with that becuase no matter how succesful a women is a women must know the basics of taking of her home and children but then you must also remember that women must have the right to have a career and be able to be financially independent. The ability to drive a car, have a career and take care of her own life is every women's right in this world. In one aspect a man is expected to do all of that, but what if the man the husband is a complete ******** a bastard as if he's drunk, irresponsible doesn't look after his wife or kids and is a hypocrite? Don't a women derserve to be treated not a property but a person with rights, talents and capabilities?

PErsonally for me, i would never want to be a women in Saudi Arabia becuase i know what my self worth is and i know that im never gonna let any man DOMINATE and CONTROL ME. I extend my sympathy to women in Saudi Arabia becuase i feel that they derseve better and to the Women Libereation Movement..all your efforts when down the drain because some ppl refuse to accept change and progress forward. If a women wants to dress in the traditional garment and let her life be dominate by men and essentially be a property, then go ahead, if you think you feel safer like that and if you believe in stupid idea that they have the lowest divorce rate and that family relationship is bonded stornger in circumstances where a women is oppresed, then go ahead and dream What about muslim women who don't wear the head scarf, don't dress from head to toe in black, don't stay at home permently adn let her husband dominate her, is the family gonna break down? Well i come from that situation and honestly my fmaily hasn't broken down severely instead we are happy and healthy in all possible ways. There is no denial that a complete happy nuclear family is the ideal situation for any child to grow up in no poverty equal chances etc but FACE IT, GET REAL JUST WHAT IS THE CHANCES OF THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENING? a father that brings home food and is happy ,a mom who is a fabolous cook adn housewife, kids who develop to be socially responsible adults
in the fairy world? VERY LITTLE CHANCE becuase the reality is not like that , what if the husband is a complete a**hole: a drunk or very abusive..what if the husbadn left them for a younger women? what if the husband died? There are many ppl who come form less than desiberable childhood but then they came out just fine, hurt of course but otherwise fine. There is no such thing as a perfect life as a perfect husband because no one is perfect nothing in this world is perfect except from god.

Why must a women dress as to what her husband wants her to dress? Where in the quran does it states that? In the quran doesn't it also state that both a man and a women must dress and act appropriately? Does the quran say that a man can
order or dominate his wife and kids ask/force them to wear tradional clothes but they have all the right in the world to look and stare at other women who are scandily dress? Doesn't the quran state that a man must honour his wife and not treat them like thier wife is thier property? I don't know about anyone out there but i personally don't want to dress in head scarft becuase men can't control thier own penis and lead a straight simple life.

I think women in Saudi Arabia are oppresed and discriminated. I pity them and i wish women who are trying to be good and lead simple good straight life the best of luck.. I feel that ppl who are oblivious and believe in the illusion that a women is to do all of that is shallow.
sorry for any spelling mistakes and hope i don't offend anyone its just my personal opnion.
