The girl that is on drugs is in her 20's and she has lost over 50 pounds in the last couple of months, isn't concerned with her appearance, wears long sleeves in 100 degree weather and has given her kids over to her mother, and her mother still denies that anything points to drugs and she is constantly making excuses for her daughter. This is making me crazy. All these excuses! I need hard core proof. Suggestions from people that have been through this would be great.

Sounds like my sister and my mom her child was taken away. Does she have track marks which may be why she wears long sleeves...mother prob in denial like mine. Unfortunately it had to take my mom walking in on her shooting up to admit it its ashame the sooner they realize the sooner the she can help the daughter...good luck.

This mother is in denial - Big Time. Sorry, there is nothing you can do to "prove" to her that her daughter is using. Denial will win every time. Sounds like all the signs are there (weight loss, looks like crap, inability or lack of desire to care for one's own children). Sad. Hopefully the children are being well cared for and not having to witness their mother's poor state. I am the child of a mentally ill mother and drug addict father. Only after years of therapy was i able to lead a fully productive and healthy life. It is not that important that the mother see the truth. More important that the children have a safe place to call home and feel loved and cared for.

Take them both out on a camping trip for a week with only the supplies YOU pack. Don't allow the suspected drug user to bring anything. Keep an eye on her.. is she wandering off alone so she can get her fix? Does she stay up many, many hours? Look messed up? You should easily be able to make her mother notice, then...

i am not trying to be cold hearted here.. unless u r a family, u really shouldn't get involved too much.. it seems that there is a blackhole there that only bring destruction to whom come near it..
and chances that she IS alcoholic or on drugs..
possessing drugs is a criminal offense.. you can seek the help of a friend in the police, whom you trust..
don't set her up! just give a heads-up
he/she can snoope around.. the worst case senario, she'd get arrested for possesion.. but most probably would get her cleaned-up..

This person is obviously in denial. There won't be much you can do to "prove" the drug use, short of videotaping the girl doing drugs.

you can't!!! people see what they want to see. if her mother is in denial, no proof is enough for her. she'll simply say you are lying or trying to drive her daughter away. at least this chic gave the kids to her mom.you CAN"T MAKE a junkie want to be clean, they have to want it for themselves.and you can't make anyone face anything they don't want to face. so don't make yourself crazy over something you can't control.remember the serenity prayer-and try al-anon for YOU, not the mom

You aren't going to convince her. IT sounds like she is in denial about her daughter.
Give her time. I am sure she will reach the conclusion on her own soon.
