How long would it take for me I apply for a green card through employment in the US? I hold a B1 visa which still is valid. Should I apply for a work visa while I am in the US or I have to return to my country and apply for work visa at the US Embassy? Which one do you think is better possibility? Please advise me! Thank you.

I really don't know if you can remain here on a B1 visa until you application is accepted, you can only stay as long as they gave you on your I-94.....
it depends on how and why you are applying for a emplyment based green card, determines how long
how you could apply for a work visa also... i don't think it stops the process..... but be careful about over staying your visit.... it may ruin your chances of getting the green card!

Those are many questions...
Having a valid visa is always best when dealing with change of status. Applying for a change of status is possible but depends on a process of examination & decision that could leave you out of status before the answer comes.
Returning to your country & then applying avoids thoughts of...this person was planning to stay already... and ensures that even if the answer takes some time you are in a position to work while you wait. If you apply in the US and are pending you can't legally work.
I got curious & found this site. Check it out! www.usimmigrationsupport.org
Good luck,

Ok, do not leave the country to file for this. It is not necessary since your B1 Visa is still good. It takes a few weeks for you to prepare all of the paperwork, also with the employer. Once given to INS (uscis) it can take up tp 6 months.
