Have you ever seen a smoker who DIDN'T throw his/her cigarette butts on the ground after smoking? I haven't.

Smokers are some of the filthiest and most inconsiderate people. They pollute not only our cities, but our beaches, parks, and national forests with their filthiness. If you're a smoker, how would you like it if someone dumped a huge pile of their cigarette butts on your front lawn? What makes you think you have the right to pollute the rest of the world with your cigarette butts?

What do you think of this idea for a new law?
Everytime someone buys a pack of cigarettes, they need to turn
in their old cigarette butts, or pay an additional tax of one dollar per
cigarette.

You seriously have issues. I'm a smoker and you my friend are making a widespread assumption. You know the old assume quote, think about it. My butts go into my ashtrays, and are dumped in the garbage before i take it out. If i put my butts on the ground its for maybe a day while i have a beer and they're always in a specific place in my own yard. I keep my neighbors yards clean but they don't keep mine clean, you want a good question? Why do i have to go around picking up toys from my yard every night and return them to my neighbors? Why are there toys on my roof if i choose to spend my next few years getting to know my husband and not having children until I'm ready? Oh look, another widespread assumption. Toys vs. butts. You seriously need to chill, we're not all jerks. I am one of the only people on the block that goes around when we're all talking on the street collecting butts to throw away. Does that make me disgusting? I didn't think so.

I am a smoker for thirty years and I have never thrown a cigarette on the ground that would be littering. I will admit I am one of a very few........I do not smoke around any one who dislikes it rather it be in my house or car. The only place I smoke is in my room or outside and I make sure I have a jar with a lid so I can close it when I am done as not to smell the place up..........

You are so freaking ingnorant to lump everyone who smokes into one category. I have respect for Mother Earth and as a smoker, I DO NOT EVER toss my butts anywhere they don't belong. I either put them in a pocket or a case until I can get to a trash can. I DO NOT LITTER!

Furthermore, I am not filthy nor am I inconsiderate. What makes YOU think you have the right to critize anyone and everyone who smokes.

As far as your made up law, screw that! How about we make all the people with bad breath or long toenails pay a sin tax too because it is gross? Or what about anyone who drives a car has to put corn oil in it so tree huggers can breathe easier.

I resent your remarks, but I feel sorry for pitiful people like you who are so shallow they group every person who is not exactly like them into a narrow little category.

May the Creator pity your soul!

in the city I live in they just finished putting butt cans at most of the bus stops, they started about 2 years ago and I don't think that I have seen anyone actually use them for their proper use. Most of the time I see people just stuffing garbage in them. There is no smoking signs in all the anclosed bus stops. I hate it when people smoke in them and I hate it even more when they aren't even waiting for the bus and smoke in them. I fight it when I have to. My husband and I both used to smoke, I quit 7 1/2 years ago and he quit 2 years ago next month, right before our son was born. I hate it when I am sitting at a bus stop enclosed or not and someone sits down beside me lights up a smoke and I get ash and smoke on me. Some people are so rude.

the same reason feel they have the right to lug around giant SUV's with terrible gas milage and work for fortune 500 companies who pollute. I'm really not defending smokers, but there are so many ugly things all over the place... or horrible polluting things that people ignore because it's not in their faces. When i smoked, i put my butts out on the bottom of my shoe and put them back in the pack until i got home or to an ashtray. you just don't see the few courteous folks cause they're discreet.

What about the people that toss garbage on the ground and out the car windows... the people that toss garbage into the water, in our forests and beaches... If you are so concerned about pollution why dont you worry about trash in general... not just cigarettes... And I have seen a lot of smokers use ashtrays...

how bout this, everytime you purchase gas, you pay an additional driving tax of 5 dollars per gallon, or better yet; you are allowed rations and can only buy certain amounts becuase it pollutes the air..

how bout this, whenever you go to mcdonalds you must turn in your old cups or bags to get new ones because too many people toss those on the road, or pay a 5 dollar fat tax...

I will admit, I have thrown a butt on the ground a few times in my life when I used to smoke. Funny thing is, I've seen people do MUCH worse! I had enough sense to put it out first, unlike others who create wildfires by not doing so. Also, no one really has a right to accuse or point the finger in regards to litter. You're gonna tell me YOU never threw something out a window, or missed a trashcan? And YOU never use gasoline in your vehicle, hairspray, or any other harmful product? Maybe you outta look at yourself a bit before placing blame.

When I went to Banff, the smokers put the cigarette out on the gravel, pick it up and throw it in the trash.

I thought it was hilarious but I was in such awe! That's how cities should require their citizens to rid of the a cigarette. Or put one of those astrays around to keep cigarettes off the ground. It ruins the environment.

There is soo many cigarette butts outside on my front lawn thanks to my smoker dad and brothers, ugh.
