I read somewhere that it's not gay if you read the Bible whilst you are doing it.

A few responses to various people, as well as an answer:

Papaofgirlmegan:
you posted EXACTLY THE SAME POST TO A DIFFERENT QUESTION. And it is still just as insulting as it was last time. AIDS KILLS EVERYONE! It does not discriminate, and is as dangerous and prevelant in the heterosexual community. And how do you define innocent? Tell me, is it not right to love another person? Is it not right to want to consummate that love? Do you think that LOVE IS SO PERVERSE THAT PEOPLE WHO FEEL IT DESREVE TO DIE? You say to believe in god and follow him utterly, and to have faith that since he created you he has a better plan for you… well, why don’t you take a step into this century. Homosexuality is not a choice, it is not a lust, it is a psychological state of mind… it’s the way someone’s brain is put together. So if god created us ALL, has a better plan for ALL of us, and doesn’t think being gay is okay, why did he create gays? Furthermore, the only education people need about the dangers of being gay is to learn that there are people like you who despise them and look down upon them with such fever that you actually believe they should die. I advise you to watch a play called "The Laramie Project" sometime. As I stated earlier… AIDS is a PANDEMIC. You’ve heard of an epidemic? A pandemic is an epidemic on a global scale. And, on a side note, your post does not answer the question. According to what you say, god said it isn’t okay for a man to sleep with another man like he would with a woman… but the question is asking about whether being gay WITHOUT PHYSICAL CONTACT is okay or not. And so far, I haven’t seen anything that say it isn’t…

David G:

Unfortunately for you, your definition is incorrect. Gay does not mean homosexual sex. Someone who is gay is one who is attracted to the same sex. Attraction does not mean sex. Unless you mean to tell me that you have sex with every person you find attractive? And don’t say that it’s still a sin because being attracted to someone is a sin and that makes being gay not okay. Unless you mean to tell me that you have never been attracted to anyone in your life? Which would make you… asexual. For the record, according to Websters New Pocket Dictionary (printed in 2000)
Gay: a. 1. joyous and lively 2. bright 3. homosexual

Ziminu Zoli:

“Up to now no homosexual has been able to give birth to a child.” This statement is entirely untrue. My lesbian friend actually happens to have a newborn, about six months old. And my friends (who are twins) have lesbian parents. Sorry, you missed the ball there.

I apologize for singling you three out, but these comments were the ones that really sent me off. Now, to answer the question? Personally, I feel that being gay is okay, regardless of whether you consummate love or not. Therefore, I don’t view it as a sin in any sense. However, I believe the question was posed in a religious context, in which case you would be asking if it is a sin in the Christian faith? In that case, from what I have read, I do not believe being gay without physical intimacy is a sin. All that I have read has stated that two males should not consummate their love (though it hasn’t said anything about two women…) but nowhere does it say that it is wrong to like another male…

If God approved homosexuality don't you think that he would have created 2 men or 2 women at start instead of one man and one women. And how would he want the first couple the following : Further, God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth.” - Genesis 1:28.

Up to now no homosexual has been able to give birth to a child.

Read from psycho boys super long answer. Which do you think is the bigger sin - homosexuality or murdering someone who is a homosexual. And all that BS about AIDS being for punishing gay people is just that, BS. It says in the bible you should kill someone one for being gay, not give them a disease - and last time I checked AIDs kills everyone, not just gay people.

Being gay is not a sin whether "we" have sex or not. If a person is "gay" and is having sex with the opposite sex, then that person is not gay, duh...

I tend to agree with you. I would take it one step further in that, it is sinful to agree with the lifestyle even though you do not participate.

I wish more Christians and Non-Christians would realize that homosexuality is just a sin, and there are those that can be tempted with the behavior and still be a christian. But as a christian you never condone the behavior as alright.

I think it's a sin to judge other people, lack charity, and ignore God's mercy but what do I know, I'm only God.
