I know I stress too much before I actuall fall asleep, but I start getting tired at nine PM, but don't generally fall asleep till three AM! I wake up around ten AM just fine, but am tired alot during the day. Could it be part of my (minor)bipolar?

I had to take 3 melotonin pills to fall asleep once, and tylenol bulids up in your system and can shut your liver down and eventually kill you, meds just wear me out and make me gain too much weight! Idk what much else there is to do.

I know what you are going through, I have "major depression" and the medication keeps me wired up so I take stuff to knock me out at night.I found a good product today at the health food store called "L Tryptophan" It's the same chemical in turkey that makes everyone pass out when they eat to much at thanksgiving. I took just one this afternoon and it knocked me out for 3 hours. I am going to take 3 tonight when I decide to go to bed.The bad news is it was $30.00 for 60 pills. They have lots of other natural products that work great, like "Melotonin" ,"Valerian" and "Libielia".I can tell you from experience that "Ambian", "Ativan", "Xanax" or any other anti-anxiety medications are Very Addictive. Everything that the guy underneath me (KnightSaber2000) is saying is 100% true also.

Cut back or quit caffeine. Nicotine also. Do not give into the desire to sleep at 9:00. Don't let yourself watch TV or listent o music or have an distractions in your bedroom. Read a book until yo can't keep your eyes open. All else fails...ask your doctor.

yes, you're bipolar tendices have a lot to do with it. just like if you were clinically depressed, that effects your sleep patterns. i find that doing a yoga type of excercise about an hour before bed helps relax me and relieve stress, thus making it easier to fall asleep!

if you have bipolar, u may need to see your doctor, the Manic episode and depressed periods can both present with sleeping problems..
that one need to improve your mental health: take things easily, avoid stressful situations, get involved in exercise and family activity
if you have alot in your mind, try to think the first thing your husband (or your partner) would do or say.. and accept it.. like what if my son stuck in quick-sand, "well its a good time for him to learn self-reliance!!"
the usual advice: sleep regularly -go to bed at 9 like u r doing-, No TV, No PC and No BOOKS next to bed..
a meal before you go to sleep.. it helps..
also sex has soothing effect and help sleeping..
