Anybody can be christian. Even homosexuals, and if homosexuality is a sin, that's why they are christians and go to church to begin with. Church is for sinners. Imagine if it were only for non-sinners, then no one would show up.

First of all, I believe the Bible defined and narrowed the definition of a Christian. After all, we wouldn't have Christians if we didn't have Christ. If you don't believe in Christ then your question is moot.
Well, let us see. Children, open your books to the section dedicated to Leviticus (the law) this would be located in the Torah for the Jewish community and the Old Testiment for the Christian Community and I have no idea where it could be located in the Koran (not even sure how to spell that one). The law does state that a sexual relationship between an individual and an individual of the same sex is forbidden (i.e., sinful) just as it is forbidden to have a sexual relationship with an animal.
Let us then define "Chrisitian". This takes place in the New Testiment of the Bible. For our Jewish friends, this is a book you may not have read but it is worth the read. Besides, it was written by some Jewish fishermen. Not too many of those at Temple these days, or so I understand. To be Christian is to be Christ-like (Jesus-like for the Christians) . Christ-like means to be without sin. Obviously we cannot be without sin because we are not a diety - we are quite simply human and therefore we are flawed from the onset. We can, however, strive to be more Christ-like and follow not only the teachings of Christ in our daily lives but still adhere to the laws set forth before His arrival in human form (go back to Leviticus).
Can a gay person actually be a Chrisitan? They can certainly strive to be Christ-like but I do not believe they can actually be "Christian" because they are with sin, just like the rest of us. That pretty much opens the door as to whether anyone can be a true "Christian". I do not call myself a Christian because I am not without sin. There's always a curse or terse thought throughout each day which keeps me from being Christ-like. It is important to me that I follow the law and also the teachings of Christ in hope that should judgment day arrive when I least expect it I will have lived Christ-like enough to be accepted at the feet of my God.
Further, it's not only heterosexuals that can be Christian. There are those who do not participate in any sexual activity (allegedly) and therefore their abstinance might also be looked upon in a number of ways. Is abstinance a sin simply because they did not go forth to be fruitful and multiply the earth? Possibly. If that is true then a homosexual person cannot be Christian because they cannot go forth to be fruitfull and multiply.
I don't bash those around me that believe different than I. I have many gay friends and some family members. They are lovely people. I have many heterosexual friends and family members that are not very nice people, in general. We make choices based on our belief structure.
If you are seeking guidance then I suggest you read, ask a learned person and listen. After all has been done, it is simply up to you to decide if only a heterosexual can become a "Chrisitan" or "Christ-like" person.
I'm not answering to "slur" you but to simply explain things as I understand them. I am not all knowing but I am a learned person. The final, free will decision must be your own.
If you want to avoid a fight, there are three things you must not discuss: Religion, Politics and Finance. That's from my Grandmother. I prefer to fight. I will discuss my opinion and interpretation of Religion with the understanding that I don't know everything. Politics and Finance I really avoid like the plague.
Hope I could help you in your quest or not for answers.

First of all Christians are sinners, so if we said only non sinners could be Christian, we would have a bunch of empty churches with a few confused people wondering where everyother perfect person was. (denial isnt just a river in egypt)
That said, if you are a sinner and we all are, you are a Christian if you believe in all that God has done, all that he is doing and all that he will yet do.
You know that what he says is right and wrong is truley right and wrong, no grey areas. If your weakness is desire toward the same sex, you do what every other sinner does. You stay away from situations and places where you would be tempted to give into this weakness, much as an alcoholic would stay away from alcohol and the places that they would be tempted to give into this weakness of their flesh.
If you believe that your weakness is not a weakness at all, then you have not yet truely understood exactly what Christianity and following God is all about yet.

Anyone can be a Christian! The Bible simply states that homosexuality is a sin. It also states that all sins are equal in God's eyes, so a person who is gay can be a Christian just as easily as one who downloads music illegally. Some Christians just don't see that and they give every other Christian a bad name because of it, so the world thinks Christians are intolerant, which is the exact opposite of what a Christian is supposed to be. Homosexuals are exactly the same as everyone else in the world--sinners. I am just as much or as little a Christian as Elton John could be.

Assume for a moment that there is no debate over whether or not homosexuality is a sin and lets just say that the bible says it is. (Which it does). All christians are sinners but not all sinners are christian. If anybody chooses to be christian, they do so with an intent of repentance. The problem with homosexuality is that most homosexuals don't think that it is a sin and can, therefore, never truly commit. someone who is an alcoholic, on the other hand, can come to christ with there problem admitting it as a problem. Whether or not they ever spend another day as a sober individual or not does not affect their salvation as long as they keep a true intent of repentance in their heart.

Only you and God know if you are a christian or not. You or I for that matter could present themselves as a christian , go to church, and read the bible, pray etc.....these people that go through the steps BLINDLY. These are the "Christians" that are making people turn their back on God. And make others doubt God's love for them. I would hope and pray that you do not give these people the power to make you doubt His love for you. Christians should try to spread God's word in a positive loving way , so that people can see his love through them.
I have never heard that only heteros can be Christians. My sister is gay and by far the most loving , giving and sacrificing person i know. She calls her god Moe. I belive the the definition of a christian just requires that you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, that he is the Son of God, and that he died for your and my sins so that we could have everlasting life. That being said, I dont belive that God put anything in there that says i have to be hetero too. with a 4 bedrm. house a husband 2.5 kids and a dog, i think the suburbanites should pull their heads out and stop letting others think for them.
Sickened by the BLIND!
Care and Bless,
Jodi

I'm of the belief that anyone who accepts Christ and is a good, decent person in action then they can go to the Christian Heaven.
I think that being kind, giving to the needy, helping those who require assistance and generally going into the world with the intent of helping is a far greater thing to do in life then sit around and judge others, quote the bible and convert people.
But I'm not Christian, so what do I know?

I do not believe that scripture anywhere condemns homosexuality. It condemns the practice of homosexuality. That is a huge difference. Scripture does not condemn a person for liking alcohol. It condemns drunkenness. You see Chrisianity is a religion of the heart which calls us to deny our wants and submit to what God wants. It is possible for a man to feel homosexual desire and choose to deny what he wants so that he can be the type of person that God wants. I know this is probably going to go over like a lead balloon because it isn't "politically correct" to tell anyone that they can't do what they want to do. Even our great US culture tells us "as long as you're not hurting anyone you have the right to do anything you want in the privacy of your own home. It's a free country". That philosophy comes from the mind of satan.
The sin of the practice of homosexuality is no more offensive to God than the sin of greed or lying. Sin is sin. All sin separates man from God. Some people struggle with overcoming homosexual desire. Others struggle with overcoming greed. While others struggle with overcoming lying or profanity, etc. I am called to struggle against my sinful nature no matter where my weaknesses lie. It is just mankind that labels sexual sins as more offensive than others. That comes from our puritanical mindset.
God understands that no one is perfect. Only His Son was perfect. What God demands of us is not perfection but the willingness to fight the good fight. Struggle against sin. Enlist the power of the Holy Spirit to do battle with the great deceiver. And one of satan's greatest forms us deception is whispering ever so softly in my ear "don't worry. It's not really that big of a sin. Look at what everyone else is doing. You're not THAT bad." And when we listen to this little voice we end our struggle and do the bidding of satan rather than God.

1 Corinthians Ch6 vs 9&10 - "Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, HOMOSEXUALS, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God."
People who say "God loves and accepts everyone" and use that as an excuse are fooling themselves. Yes, he does forgive sinners - but only if they stop (or at least TRY) to stop sinning. To be a homosexual and say "yeah, it's okay 'cos God forgives me" is missing the point. Jude 4 sums it up - "I say this because some godless people have wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness allows us to live immoral lives." (New Living Translation).
At the end of the day, Christianity is like any society or club. There are rules. You can argue against the rules, but it's pointless, cos' they're the rules of the club. If you don't like the rules, don't be in the club. I've got nothing against homosexuals personally, what you do in your life is your own business, but you can't be a christian and be gay. End of story.

Sexual orientation is not the foundation of Christiany. Obstaining from sex is part of not living in the WORLD and living a Spiritual life for the unmarried and homosexuals. God does not endow humanity with a right to have sex or children for that matter. Sex is reserved for the married. Love is not limited. Check out who is giving you information. Are they a bigot or a zelot? Find your self an other spiritual advisor.
All professed Christians are not always educated or Christian. Email if you want some more info.

I think if only heterosexuals were permitted to be Christians than that would be stated in the Bible. I don't think it is. You go for it!
You really hit someones buttons. I figure anyone who is that hung up on gayness must be having some closet problems themselves.
