I told him that I think we shouldn't communicate anymore, he disagrees with my decision, why does he want to still be my friend when he broke up with me (later found out he was talking to someone else while we were together)? Does he feel guilty or something?

Do we guys hurt? It depends on how much we invested in the relationship. I have a friend who lost the love of his life and his little girl, and he was so bitter it made Eminem and his ex look like they were on their first honeymoon. Her parents got in the way, and by the time it was over, he was pretty much dragged through the mud, he doesn't trust ANY women, and he gave up all parental rights to his daughter after figting for her for 7 years. He is not feeling guilty, he may have just invested more into the relationship then he though. even though he had someone else on the side.

For some guys when they say they wanna still be friends that means there not done the don't wanna let go an they still love you, that's how I am. Others do it out of guilt, like if he was cheating on you when you guys were going out then yes its pro bally out of guilt but if he never cheated on you it pro bally means he doesn't wanna let go an he must think that there is still another chance. But then again he could think your just a great person an if a dating relationship doesn't work out the to be friends will be great. So it all depends. Your asking us when your the one that knows him alot more than any of us so what do you think? Do you still like him? Do you wanna be friends? Or do you really wanna just forget about him.... if you do you need to tell him because if he really still does have feelings for you then he needs to know your not going back into a relationship... so best of luck to you...

We all have our emotions though men are less likely to express them or express them differently. O yeah he's hurt especially since you were his girlfriend and had been faithful to you once upon a time (based on your story). Maybe he wants to stay friends with you because either he's hoping to bring back the relationship in the future or he doesn't wanna lose you because you've been special to him--if he's that kind of a person; or maybe he hasn't gotten over you yet so he's taking his chances; or maybe he is guilty for wasting your time on him. You did the right thing though. You deserve someone who will treat you right and much better than you deserve girl.

omg yes we feel pain like you wouldn't believe. i'm 17 and i was with this girl for 3 years before we had to break up because of her parents. if you think breaking up is hard, imagine how difficult it would be knowing you have this perfect girl in your life and the only reason you cant be with her are because of her parents. we broke up a week ago and i can't think straight, i can't concentrate or think or sleep and it drives me insane. she wants to be my friend because she says that's all she can be, but i can't look at her like a friend knowing that she was the person i was in love with for 3 years and am still in love with. he doesn't feel guilty, i bet he just wants you in his life, that's what my girlfriend's reason is at least. whatever the case may be i'm sure he's hurting. if you were with him for a week it wouldnt be bad, but since you've been with him for so long i'm sure he's in pain just like you are

Of course generally. But there are some of us that breaking up is so easy. So it depends on specific person. Just like girls.

Heck no, guys break up, walk out smiling, maybe laughing, go to the nearest tittie bar and start hitting on the girls all in the same hour!

every guy is different. also every relationship and situation is different. if a guy was never really into a girl, then he wouldn't be so sad about it. however, if someone he really loved broke up with him, then he'd most likely be really sad about it.
