I threw my husband a 30th b day BASH and my cousin and his wife came at 12am with no gift. We are very close to them. That was weird to us. Now, her 30th b day is coming. Should i get her a gift or not out of spite?

If she is a close friend - then I would still bring a gift. Is that why you had a party? to get gifts? I'd be glad that people showed up - before 12am.

I think you should bring her a gift. Well, I think fighting back will just create a bigger problem for the two of you, and others might be affected as well. Just leave the thing that had happened behind. Maybe they had reasons why they didn't bring a gift the last time. Either talk to your cousin about it or just move on--it's up to you. You're grown-ups so you know better on how to deal with that kind of a problem--if it was a problem though. Just don't let a stupid gift create fusion between you guys. lol.

It does seem a bit rude. Let's hope they had a good reason. (Like, they forgot to buy the present and are buying a gift right now). Otherwise, the least they could do was to give your husband a card.

If you don't want to give her a gift but don't want to seem rude either, you could always give her a homemade card. It's more than they gave your husband, doesn't cost extra money, and it still lets you acknowledge her birthday. Just a thought.

Oh lord i want to say no gift, but i agree that they were rude .BUT you don;t have to sink to that level.Remember you do not have to spend a lot of money on a gift, I think this a gag gift would be fun. you know an add in the paper wishing her a big 30 birthday. My x did this only he said happy 21st bd for the 9th time, I really thought it was funny

Be the better person! Give them a gift. And you should ask them what happened that day... Maybe they didn't have money for a gift or/and couldn't make it for the party until 12am because of something? Maybe you should just ask them...?

I think you should get her a gift. I dont believe they didnt get your husband a gift to be rude, there must be a reason why and may be they are embarrassed to talk to you guys about it (eg. forgot it was your husbands birthday till last second, or not enough $$). You should get them a gift at least that way your showing them that you want the friendship to keep on going.

Ask them. Let them know why it upset you. This is the best way to clear the air. Not revenge.Maybe they could not afford a gift maybe they had an argument that made them late. maybe they thought that the other one was going to pick up the gift. It could be anything.

That is ultimately your call. Do you want to save the friendship? Sit down and talk with them. Tell them how you are feeling. I would get a gift just because I like the person, not because it is a birthday. Some people are not constantly thinking of material crap. Plus, they are FAMILY. They think about events and momentous birthdays and are just excited to see you. Think about the friendship and think about how important some stupid present is in the larger scheme of things. (Small things upset small people...)

You should bring her a gift if she is a close friend, they may not bring a gift because of financial problems. You never know the situation of anther person. You should not be throwing a party just for presents you should enjoy the company of others!

Yes, it's very rude. No, don't buy a gift, and show up at 12am too. Who in the world does that? If you feel guilty, get her a card...but nothing else!
