okay. im breaking apart christianity one part at a time to put under a magnifying glass, and first up is hell, because they just seem to love that place. here are my questions

1. where is hell?
2. what constitutes going to hell? why does it exist if you are forgiven? why does heaven exist if you are not? where is the dividing line?
3. what is it like in hell? is it fun if you like being evil?
4. What was hell made of before fire was discovered? for that matter, what was all of christianity in prehistoric times?
5. What does the devil look like?

Another thing I have a sneaking suspicion about is that the "devil," as in like alluring beautiful things, are not actually evil as the bible describes, but simply beautiful. This is part of my evidence of christianity's effort to eradicate happiness.

Yeah Belle I'm supposed to be doing an essay about a novel I read in English class, but I feel like tearing down Christianity instead. =)

Starfish, I can't wait until you die. You'll never find out what happens when you die, because when you die, you can't be sure what will happen, but im pretty sure you just die. As in you're gone. there is no afterparty. youre dead.

I'm going to try to answer this as best i can as far as what most Christian doctrines would say.

1. If you're looking for a physical location, e.g. 5 miles south of such and such city, x miles below the earth, i would venture to say that it is an impossibility. The concept of heaven and hell's existence stems from a spiritual destination, more than a place you can dig to.
2. Generally speaking, being an all-around sinister-minded person without concern for others would be one criteria for going to hell. It exists because while you CAN be forgiven, it's a two way street - if a person is to consciously refuse God and/or any forgiveness stemming from God, according to most Christian doctrines, there's not any forgiving that can take place. Consequently, the opposite generally constitutes reaching heaven. The dividing line is a person-by-person basis; no, chances are you won't go to hell if you steal a pack of gum from a 7-11, but if you have a nasty habit of raping people for fun, that would probably be a ticket to hell. It stems from a person's desire to be good over evil.
3. Miserable, even if you like being evil, because while many Old Testament readings describe hell as a fire-and-brimstone wasteland, there are other interpretations as well. If you read The Inferno from Dante's Divine Comedy, Dante provides several creative levels and regions of hell that could exist. Having never been there, I for one can't give a first-hand account, but the general concept is pure misery, and not the enjoyable kind for masochistic people.
4. Again, the idea of a fire-and-brimstone hell acts as more of a warning than an actual blueprint; the idea was to motivate people to avoid evil, not to give them a brochure about hell. Christianity didn't exist in prehistoric times, as Christianity was not an established faith doctrine until after the death of Jesus, beginning with the Catholic church. Keep in mind that those who folllowed Jesus were largely Jewish in origin.
5. Stemming from the fact that physicality is not the essence of the idea of heaven and hell, the devil isn't something that can necessarily be described in physical form, especially considering that none of us have been to hell or (theoretically) seen him face-to-face. Your guess is as good as mine. Satan could be the traditional red horned demon with a spiked tail and a pitchfork, he could be a pink fluffy bunny, who knows.

Again, that's just the general answer that I think most Christian faiths would respond with. Hope this helps.

1. In the dirt 2. dying. It is simbly in the ground buried. There are conditions of hell. Like working and not being able to pay your bills or being afraid in your own neiborhood. The Devil is not even in hell yet. In the end the False prophet and the Beast will be tossed into the lake of Fire. now that is the Hell that people don't know about. Heaven will be established on this earth. The devil only takes orders from God.

There is no hell. It most certainly guaranteed that an all powerful creator would have no part of such a despicable place for his own creations. We don't treat even the very worst of our society in such a way so it would seem that the father of all creation, having the most intimate understanding of how and why we are, would show more compassion to us than we show to ourselves.
No, hell is the most powerful system of control in the whole book. (You know the one) Nothing keeps the masses pinned down and in line so much a fear. Do as you are told or an eternity of pain may await. Yes puppets, that's it, march. A story built by people in power having an understanding of the human condition and the need to know where we came from. Designed to control them all. Even now it is working. Fear driving agenda, and agenda driving fear and all of it wrapped in the guise of doing what is right in the eyes of... GodAllaBuddhaJehovahHariBrahmanShangTi.... etc. etc. etc. etc.
Bottom line, you would not torture your son for all time no matter what they did. Why would a being greater than you do it? They wouldn't... but it sure does sound scary. Sorry to say but, no heaven either. We are all food for worms.
1. nowhere
2. nothing

Too many questions in one post, but no one knows where hell is. Maybe it's within a black hole where even light can't escape? I believe we all have the light of Christ within us, but if we were to do something that come judgement day, would send us on our way, seems like a black hole might be something you could never escape from. There is so much about the universe that we don't understand. To assume that the laws of a higher power couldn't make sense within the context of it is the sign of someone who hasn't really studied much. Not that you're that person. We can all only make sure we aren't that kind of person.

Hell is a Mansion of the Father's House.
Breaking the 10 Commandments.
Forgiveness, is God's discression.
Heaven is for those who are worthy.
Division is the line between dimentional realities.
Darkness.
It's wrong to be evil.
Before Hell, there was a void.

4. There was no Christianity in prehistoric times.
1. Inside of you as is heaven
2. being absent from the presence of the Creator. The main dividing line is both your faith in something great or than your self and not believing that idea. The christian church expanded the idea of Hell and heaven into the verse as above so below to say that there are as many levels of heaven as their are of hell each with its own ruler.
3. a torment being absent from the feel of GODS presence.
That depends on if that is your role in the scheme of things that the CREATOR assigned to you to do.
5. That is a christian idea and has nothing to do with reality as they threw together a bunch of different types of so called evil beings to create their idea of the devil ( a supreme evil).
SATAN was created by the CREATOR to be a tempter of the human soul to try and turn it from the CREATORS laws .

4.prehistoric? this arguement won't fly with christians...just so you know...because when God created the Earth that was the beginning of our history. I may of jumped the gun on the hell is hot statement. its not hot yet it will be cast into the lake of fire on that appointed day.
5.rape, thorns, murder, greed, selfishness, something like that.

Hell is very real and does exist, I have whats called spiritual discernment, and if you've taken time to read your bible, you know that its when God talks to you, trust me, Hell isn't anything you want for eternity or for a moment, it's worse than anything you can imagine and it can follow for generations. We have forgiveness because we seek it, whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life, it's what you believe. If you don't believe Jesus cleansed you of your sin, then you may very well get a taste of what Hell is. It's nothing I wish on my worst enemy.
