Amen!! That's one I've my biggest arguments with going to church and why, more often than not, I refuse to go.
Isn't it something how the preachers are mere-mortals themselves who will scream and holler that we'll go to hell if, for example, we drink a beer or gamble, but then you'll see some of 'em on Monday night hanging out at the bingo hall having a beer. Talk about hypocritical!

maybe you should try a different church? Some styles are just more depressing....its sad. I don't mean to be rude when saying this but I think its true. People do church differently. Its not necessarily that one is better than the other but maybe you just haven't found the one you need yet. Church is not a bad thing. It helps people often........

Ha ha. . . you have missed the mark brother.
Church is the body of Christ. It is you and I, and not just confine to the building itself.
Going to church is to fellowship, to encourage each other to keep up doing good. Fellowship upon the Lord's table for the Holy Communion, and to grow.
Going to church is not to hear that you are going to hell. Believers don't go to hell, and the church did not says that, but God.
In Ezk 33, God spoke to the prophet that the righteouos people, if they sin and repent not (the key is repent not), they will face the consequences. But for sinners (like most of us) who repent, the way to heaven is open to them.
So, if you are constantly living in sin, surely you will feel that you will go to hell. That way, fault is not in church, but in you brother.
Cheer up.

Don't. Church sucks and at the end of day all you have to remember is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. All the rest of it is a big waste of hypocritical *** time. I was catholic, and every time I walked into a church and saw all that gold and silver and fancy decorations and robes, it made me sick. All thoses poor people in the world and the church wastes money on that crap. Organized religion is a useless cult that only wants your money, and cares nothing about you.

Catholic Mass is not preaching you're going to Hell. That Church service is strictly a worship service. There is a difference.

What kind of church are you going to? Sounds like a pretty sad view of church.

Where have you been? It's obvious that you haven't been to church. Most churches don't preach about how you are going to hell but about God's grace. Try it, maybe you'll like it:)

I think you need to go to a different church. I go to church and am actually uplifted each week. I am reminded that helping others is God's work and that we need to love each other and get to know God's plan for us.

Is the preacher stepping on your toes? If so, that's good because that's what he's called to do so that the people know they have to accept Jesus as their saviour and repent of their sins in order to go to heaven and not hell.

well at least they talk about hell , the less hell is talked about the more your enemy likes it , God does not want you to go there , Jesus did so much to keep you from going there , if you end up in hell it will not be Gods fault , by the way good works will not get you into heaven
