I am SO tired of hearing questions that are obviously intended as insults for specific religions. Why attack someone's spirituality? You aren't helping the problem doing that, even if you're just trying to defend your own in the process. I'm Christian, and I respect ALL spirituality. I believe people are entitled to be athiest, or Muslim, or Islamic, or Agnostic...why fight about it? I realize people are passionate about their beliefs, and that's great, but to attack someone else's beliefs is useless and rude.

Same with you. I am Muslim and I feel so disapointed about what have written in this Yahoo Answer. Although I am Muslim I have many Christians friends and we respecting each other. I wonder why people in this Yahoo Answer are SO EXTREME and PREJUDiCE to other religion.
I have recognized one extreme Christian, his name is DON. I believe many people here think this old whynotaskdon is a fasist Christian.

Why? Because of ignorance and tunnel vision. The war of religions has been going on for years and will continue until the end of time. "The love of money is the root of all evil." This, I believe is the bottom line of the fighting. Each religion wants the money to spread its word. I respect another person's right to religious (or lack thereof) freedom. I do not, however, appreciate that I do not have religious freedom in the U.S. Non believers have taken that right away from me and many others because they are offended. Well, I too am offended that they do not believe but instead of bashing them, I just pray for them that they will one day come to understand that religion is not a bad thing and it really doesn't harm them in any way. I still pray OUT LOUD in public so others can hear in the event they don't understand how to pray and maybe understand and learn - if that's their need. If it's not, just ignore me. I don't mind. I try to understand other beliefs so I can respect them and not say something hurtful. I do, however, share my opinion about my God. You're welcome to reject it. I'm a big girl and I can handle it.

"to attack someone else's beliefs is useless and rude." AMEN

You get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar. Ever notice how the mean person at work is lonely? Ever notice how the nice person at work is admired? Be nice to the mean person and maybe they will be nicer. You may not convert them but you can help them achieve a better outlook on life and the lives of others.

CAN I GET AN AMEN?

To answer that question you have to see into religion it self. It is the religion itself who breeds hatred to words other religions. People who are dogmatic about their religion are the most dangerous. They believe every ward said or written and take it literaly. Many Religions were meant to control people. If they couldn't control them, then they would bash their beliefes. More people have died in the name of religion then any other means. Religion means power and control.. Europe was run by religion hundreds of years ago. If you were not a believer, they locked you up or burnt you at the stake. How about all those Holy Wars fought and still fighting. I am of Canadian Aboriginal decent and brought up as a Catholic. I later learned the ways of my ancesters and found it to be one with the Creator. I can honestly say that in our Religion there is no hatred but only respect for all other religions. There is no power or control to be had there. You live as one with Nature and respect all living things as an equal because life depends on one another to survive. There has never been a Holy War with our people that I am aware of. Yes, our people fought but for survival only. We fought to keep our land and hunting grounds not because the other guy had a different religion. Before bashing other religions, try understanding them and take what is good from it and use it yourself. You will feel good about yourself and others once you understand.

In one word: INSECURITY

People who are clear and confident about their own belief structure and see it superior based on comparative study do not have to diminish the religious beliefs of others (regardless of what you belong to). If we are comfortable and at peace with our own religion, then we know it is the right religion for us and do not worry whether others use it for their own or not.

Religion is our spiritual car that takes us closer to the Most High. Based on our needs we select the car that we can afford and that is best for us in which we may travel towards our goal most succesfully and comfortably.

People who are not so sure or see other cars zipping past get a bit concerned. Others have large empty buses that they wish to fill with passengers.

It is all very amusing if you can take a view from the cliff of all the cars travelling from many different roads to the same central destination, and many times do not realize that our focal point is the Same........ The FOUNTAINHEAD OF LIFE!

In my view I see that MOI hit the point. Look up that word religion in a dictionary and you will see it is about a belief: 1.A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

Whether they are serious or just joking, they do pursue what they do with zeal [devoted to a goal even if it is to laugh or just have what they call fun].

Humankind will be humankind and by design they must reveal their pure innate nature as a witness to themselves. Too bad most refuse to look at themselves because they are too busy looking at the others. They seem to have no concept that all has two sides and all have two opposing views.

Yes this is just my opinion and It answers your question in my view. I tried OK.

Now have a great day, smile and just let others be what they are. I do that by just accepting it as it is and just hope to see someday to see the promised change.

Religious beliefs aren't really provable. They can't like conduct experiments to prove or disprove a theory. So if they want superiority over another belief system, they don't really have any choice but to tear down the other guy. Its just like wars fought over land. Neither side can really prove the land is rightfully theirs. They both just want it real bad. So they come up with bullshit explanations why they should have it, like Manifest Destiny, and eventually have to fight to obtain it. Same principle is at work in religious battles I think, with a philosophical battleground instead of a geographical one.

Many people are either insecure in their beliefs, and need to attack others to make themselves feel better, or they subscribe to the philosophy that there is One True Way™ (theirs) and that everyone else who believes differently must be wrong.

So, either out of envy, self-doubt, or sheer bigotry, they attack any other believe system as invalid. It's really rather sad and childish.

Because THEY have been taught that theirs is the only way, so since it is 'right' every thing else is necessarily 'wrong'. We are not born knowing everything - although some people believe they 'know-it-all', We know what we have been taught, no more, no less. Not to mention the people who have their own little ax to grind.

Lack of compassion, lets see did Jesus do that (applies to christians) uh no he did not! He did attack those that interperted the scriptures wrong on purpose or twisted them to benefit a clergy class or business ventures.
