We are not 'banned' from doing anything. We have recommended guidelines to follow, and some of them can be considered commandments, as they were received as revelation.
What many non-Mormons don't understand is the concept of 'agency'. We all have the right to choose our actions. Whether we choose correctly is what will determine our eternal status.
We have what is called "The Word of Wisdom", which counsels against 'hot drink' (coffee, tea) There is always debate, even within the church, if that means sodas containing caffeine. It also recommends meats in season and sparingly, preferring vegetables and grains. Modern research has shown that The Word of Wisdom is actually fairly accurate when it comes to preserving ones health.
We are counseled to be a 'modest' people. Modesty in dress and behavior is stressed in our youth organizations, as well as for the adults (who sometimes forget also!)
Our church focuses highly on the family, and the purpose of a father and mother, so adultery and obviously premarital sex is counseled against. We believe that our bodies are as a temple, and that it should be treated as such.
Really, these guidelines make us a happier people. We know who we are, and we don't need to be worldly to fit in.
My kids have grown up modest, they don't drink, smoke, or sleep around. They are popular and their non-Mormon friends always 'watch over' them, making sure they stay on the right path!

We are not banned for drinking caffeine. It is suggested that we limit the amount of caffeine since it's addictive and not good for you anyways. We are not supposed to drink alcohol or use tobacco. We are asked not to dress immodestly. We are not supposed to break the law (so no, we do not practice polygamy, those groups are not Mormons). We are not supposed to have pre-marital sex. We to follow Jesus Christ teachings and do belive in the Bible so we have all the same other guidelines as other Christians.
The person who responded above me has some serious issues and obviously knows nothing about our church.

I am not mormon but I do know some people who are. Mormons are "banned" from smoking, drinking, gambling, masterbation(males and females both), premarital sex, and it sounds like anything else that is not wholesome family fun. They also frown upon gays and lesbians.
Than again my ex was a mormon, left because he went from straight to bi then to gay. We used to go with another mormon guy or 2 to the gay club for drag night, they all drank except me. Then I got married had my son and haven't seen any of them in almost 2 years. I made out with one of the guys we would go to the club with, but he wouldn't date me because dating leads to marriage and if I wasn't mormon as well he couldn't be married in the church.

Banned is too strong of a word. Because we believe in free choice. We are supposed to refrain from any addicting substances, this includes alcohol and drugs, smoking, etc...
We are supposed to refrain from vile things, like pornography, cursing, bad thoughts, and other addictive behaviors...
Addictive behaviors can destroy our freedom to choose...because you have to have whatever you're addicted to. Addiction to spiritually harmful things is just as hard to get rid of than physically harmful things...they go hand in hand. Basicly, we are supposed to refrain from anything that can be harmful to our physical and spiritual being.
Satan is the deciever, and he makes it seem like doing those things mentioned above (and other things) seem ok, and not sin. But anytime we let worldly things control our being, it is both spiritually and physically harmful.

the Lost and Deceived of Satan (LDS) are banned from entering Heaven unless they repent of that evil inflluence and come to God in The Way He proscribes and receive His free gift of Salvation.
No LDS is permited to be a true friend of anyone who is not one of them.
