In these times of "equality" a guy is called "not confident" if he doesnt boldly ask a girl out.

Well what about her, do the rules of equality apply to her too?

I don't know why anyone would be so scared to ask someone out. I think if you like someone you should just go for it. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 yrs. now and i asked him out in high school in front of all his football team mates. my friends said he liked me and I liked him but he never said anything so i asked him.

I say watch closely at the ones who dont ask a guy out. You see, there is a difference. If the girl acts shy, or very quiet and to herself, it may be a confidence thing she is lacking....but, however, if the girl acts classy, and walks with confidence and strength...I would say she feels as if it is your job as a man to do the asking and you will probably never get a date with a girl like that because more than likely she is set in her ways. My theory is, there are tons of men out there, if one cannot get the nerve to ask me out, then I will take the next that fits my criteria.

Some girls like going the "old fashion" route in dating- chivalry makes you feel special. Some men like it that way as well.

Guys are not less confident if not asking "boldly", unless they live like hermits and never put out the signals they like someone. That would be "no confidence".

if a woman likes a guy but won't ask him out then she's probably scared of rejection. which stems from not being confident or optimistic enough to think that the guy might actually go with her. or she might just think that asking a guy out seems kind of weird since it's traditionally done by the guys.

That would depend on how you look at it and from which point you are looking at it from.

From a woman's point of view, she prefers a man to approach her first, this does not mean that she has no confidence in herself just that when it comes to dating she wants a man to act first. Not all women like this however, and pursue men as men pursue women.

No, it could just be that she isn't asking because even now many people seem to think that's exclusively the guy's job, she might not think so herself but she might be worried about how others would perceive her if she asked a guy out.

She either has no confidence or still believes it is the guys place to ask the girl out. Many girls still do.

Not really. Girls / Women never express their feelings directly in most of the cases, instead they expect men to tell them what they want to say. If men end in saying nothing then they arent the loosers considering options ahead. Its also ture in case of women.
