I was in a horrible car accident almost 20 years ago and my discs at C-3 and 4 and C-6 and 7 are both herniated badly-- with C-4 and 5 about to go too.
I just wanted to know what to expect in terms of length of surgery, healing and range of motion.

(and yes, I am seeing a neurosurgeon and will ask him this too, but would like to get feedback from other patients)

Thanks!

My brother did. He was up and about within about 3 weeks (but not fairly active until 6 weeks). He did it all without pain pills, because of the addiction issues. which sped up his recovery time. (But it did make him a crab, I have to say). He is now quite active and while he has stopped competitive bicycle racing, he still bicycles, hikes, etc. He just has some issues with landing on his back, so water and theme park rides are out, he doesn't ride horses, and he didn't let his son jump on him as a toddler (all quite practical considerations, if you ask me).

i had c5 and 6 done 8 weeks ago.......i'm doing great.......i had it done throught he neck and used cadabra bone insteat of a bone graph.........a bone gragh is painfull.......if your a smoker you need to cut back so the bone will take.........they want you to totally stop
......but some of us it's not that easy.........mobility is fine......i can tell a huge difference.....i found it easier to sleep in a recliner for the first 5 days and then i slept back in the bed.....do not do any heavy lifting.......it realy wasn't bad at all. good luck with everything and i hope you get to feeling better.
