I hope you have talked to your doctor first before coming on here to ask. It is possible that it may be linked to the lithium, so ask about dosage intake.

If you are only seeing things when you're falling asleep or immediately upon awakening it could be hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations. Since you are taking lithium and wellbutrin I assume you have bipolar disorder or recurrent major depressive disorder. People with psychotic mood disorders have marked manic and/or depressive symptoms concurrent with the hallucinations and the hallucinations usually occur at times other than falling asleep or waking. It could also be an unusual side effect of the medication.

Tell this to your doctor. You might have been given the wrong kind of medication.
Or, on the flip side...or my weird view of things...you could be subject to attacks from psychic vampires. Do you feel paralyzed with fear when you see these figures and feel very fatigued and lethargic the morning after? I know this sounds horribly weird and 'psychotic', but I've heard some really convincing accounts of spirits that drain the energy from living humans. You would need someone trained in psychic protection or a priest of sorts to help you with that...
Of course, it could just be the drugs... :)
Not really too concerned with whether you believe this or not. I'm quite skeptical about it myself. But it was fun to bring up. You can take me seriously or not. (I'm getting a bit of a kick out of it). I hope you don't have this problem, because if it's even possible, it scares the **** out of me.

You have some drugs that may cause this. However keep in mind the average person stares at one spot for a few minutes they will start to hallucinate. Now amplify this with a dark room, It is a fact that our minds can play tricks, I think this is a normal part of the human mind. Maybe try meditating before bed. Or not fearing the images, if you need fear in your life just watch Fox News.

The prescribed meds may be the problem. I knew a lady once whom was put on lithium & she slept all the time, so you're probably having a reaction. I'd get off both meds & get some St. Johns Wort. Check into mood uplifting herbs. I forget the name of the catrtelidge herb, but it's supposed to be a great mood herb

It is probably from the meds. My meds do that to me sometimes especially if I am overtired and my meds haven't kicked in at night yet. I can see the person but I can never see his face. My mother had the same problem. Maybe you should ask the doc about coming off of the lithium and being put on something else. I take Seroquel for it, works great for me. Talk to your doctor and see what he thinks!!!!!

Wellbutrin and Lithium are drugs. Any of these types of drugs can cause the problem. Talk to your doctor.

I thought this happens to everyone. When the lights are out our eyes adapt to the dark but our minds can play tricks on us and what is a vacum cleaner in the light might be a person. My 7 year old came to me last night and said she saw a man in her room but when she walked up to where she saw him he was not there so I really think we all at one point or another see something in the dark. I am Bipolar and on a ton of meds and once due to the ambien I was on I saw a huge circus on the ceiling of my bedroom and I can decribe it in very well detailed. So don't worry it could just be your eyes in the dark or meds or what ever but the truth is nothing is there that is not there when the light is on.

That is Satan visiting you at night. Go get prayed for. Have a preacher or a minister come to your house and pray those evil spirits out of your house. The devil is attacking you for some reason. Call on the name of Jesus when that happens. Ask Jesus to loose the demons that are trying to posses you. Say "rebuke you Satan in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!"
I know about that, cause that used to happen to me. But I learned how to call on the Lord. I'll pray for you. It is not your medication or that you are depressed. The doctors tried to diagnose me with schizophrenia. But after all the medication that they gave me, it would still happen. I would feel paralyzed. I couldn't talk or move. Until I was saved by Jesus. Now, Satan knows that does not scare me anymore. So he throws all other roadblocks in my way.
