Just be concious of how much you are eating. Like if you receive a big plate of food at a restauarant, don't think you have to finish it. Also, eat meals that are highly nutritious to lessen feeling like you are lacking something later. Make sure you drink enough liquids. Often, we think we are hungry when we are really thirsty. Sometimes if you just drink water your hunger will go away. Also, if you are female different times of the month will make you hungry because of your hormones. Usually the last 2 weeks of your cycle you get the hungriest because your body is building up supplementation for your "baby." So don't feel discouraged if it is difficult to stop eating during that time!

1) Keep very little food in the house and go shopping every two days. You can't eat what's not there.

2) Don't carry money or cash/credit cards with you when you go out except when you go shopping. You can't be tempted by burger joints if you're not carrying cash.

3) Write a fixed menu for every day of the week and only buy those things. Keep a careful record of your purchases.

4) If you want to have a snack, eat something low fat: fruit, soda crackers instead of potato chips, yogurt, granola bars, air-popped popcorn with no butter, etc.

5) Start exercising. If you're doing something, you won't eat to kill time. When you start exercising regularly, you'll find that the workout kills your appetite. Exercising also gets rid of your fat.

6) NEVER GO ON A DIET. Diets make people fat. When you stop eating, the body thinks it's starving and becomes MORE efficient at storing fat. If you eat lowfat foods, your body used the fat in your body to produce energy.

Pre-portion you foods. Meaning you go out to eat, don't get the super burrito, get a regular. Don't get the large salad and a side dish, get a small salad or skip the side dish. You are home, don't cook so much, or separate out the extra food and put it in the Tupperware before you sit down to eat.

Basically decide how much food you need based on how much you ate at your last mean and portion that before you start eating.

You can try the whole use smaller plates or bowls and see if it works. It didn't for me I just went back for seconds. When it's already in the fridge or I have to order more I don't usually want seconds.

What really worked for me was I started writing down everything I ate and added up the calories. But that's a lot work.

Don't buy junk food. And if you have to have chocolate every now and then buy the snack sizes in bags (like freddo frogs) cause you will eat less than if you but a block. Same thing works for potato chips. Your conscience wont let you open too many little packets!

Get involved in some physical activities: join a hiking group, play tennis, etc. Do this on a regular schedule and you'll busy and happy and won't think about overeating. All the best to you.

Eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones... and keep lots of fresh fruit and vegetables handy for snacking on inbetween. Drink more water. :-)
