Dogs interact with humans in a more selfless way..Do you know of any ''Cat guides for the Blind' or assistance cats..or sled cats, or police cats..or bomb sniffing cats. or search and rescue cats, or herding cats, or guard cats.???
Nope, dogs will serve man, but cats will serve themselves..Or expect us to wait on them..

Hi,
Dogs are more versatile. They can be trained to do many things including: Helping the Blind, Scouting, Hunting, Sniffing out bombs/drugs etc. Most love outdoor activity that they can do with owner. Swimming, running, Chasing balls etc. Simply put Dogs react with humans on a more personal level. They have many varied and interesting personalities and character types. They come in all shapes and sizes - including cat size. They can be a pet as well as a guard dog. Dogs just do more than Cats as a rule. When was the last time you went jogging with your cat? When was the last time your cat chased away a burglar? When did your Cat last enjoy a full day out with you at the park etc. No Cats will never be as valued as a Dog. Not in my mind anyway.. That said Cats have there place and I have had one previously. They can be loyal and friendly but again they can be withdrawn and lazy......... thanks.

Because people like the idiotic grin always plastered on a dog's face. They like the drool and the incessant barking. They prefer all that to the quiet calm of a cat. The playful, intelligent cat is defeated with drool.
Of couse, you do have the dog-like cats. If you get a Siamese you dont really end up with a dog or a cat, but something in the middle.

The main reason that Dogs are preferred over cats is this. Dogs unlike cats ( or any other animal in nature) prefer the company of man to that of it's own kind. Watch a person taking their dog for a walk .. the dog will meet other dogs, go up to them greet them, sniff them.. then return to it's owner. hence Dogs are man's ( or woman's) Best friend. Add to that that Dog is God spelled backwards., you can't go wrong loving a pooch.

I personally prefer cats
but some people I know think that dogs are more loyal and are called best friends .. in nature they are but cats .. or some of the .. have these qualifications too
so we should not generate

Actually, more people prefer cats to dogs, and they do so because cats are better than dogs.

According to current statistics more people own cats than dogs in the US.
A lot of people like to have both. Some like dogs only, some cats only.
I don't think your statement has a lot of validity.

Because dogs are more human-like. I just don't understand cats, and while cat lovers enjoy that mysteriousness, the rest of us find it a turn-off. I want a pet, not a room-mate...

When you've had a bad day at school/work etc, and you come home, does your cat run over to you with a smile on it's face like it's never been happier to see you and then proceeds to give you unlimited affection and instantly cheers you up? That's why I love my dog.
