Sometimes people are depressed because they have repressed pain in their lives that has not been dealt with. You may have a deep pain in your life and not know it exists. Depression a lot of times is the bodies' physical recognition of the pain without having the mental baggage. Emotions and memories may be trying to surface, but the mind might be blocking these emotions and memories until you are capable of addressing these issues. Allow the depression to play its course, realizing that there is nothing weird or strange about what you are going through. God will do the rest if you allow Him to help you.

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..
But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

Depression is a constant feeling. Like you can go out to the movies, have a good time with your friends, but then go home and as that good feeling fades you feel like you're less than who you are. I have been depressed a couple of times in my life, but they were situational depressions. Changes in living conditions, marriage/divorce, and stress from work brought it on. I don't think I'm a depressed person, just that I get depressed at times and I'm not scared to go to the doctor to get some medicine to remedy it. Once life gets back on track, I just quit taking the pills because situations return to normal. It's like if I caught a cold, I'll take dayquil until I don't think I need it anymore. Symptoms - feelings of guilt for no reason, sleeping alot/oversleeping, things that normal make you happy don't, you quit wanting to hang out with your friends, loss/gain of appitite, suicidal thoughts, suicidal attempts, drinking more than just socially,

There is an excellent discussion of depression and mental health in the Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine by Murray and Pizzorno. It will tell you all you want to know and give lots of good sound advice from experts to help you if you have this unfortunate disorder.

In many cases of depression, therapy and drugs are a necessity. If you are totally against medication, still see a therapist (or any doctor). Talk to them about using St. John's Wort (sold in Walmart and health food stores). This does work for some people, but they still need to be monitored by a doctor.

there is a difference between feeling depressed and depression....with depression the symptoms stay with you for long periods of time like 6-12 months...they affect your everday life on a continual basis...if you are just depressed these symptomes should subside after awhile
getting rid of depression can vary from person to person depending on the cause...some people it's environmental and some it's chemical
environmental depression can be fixed by talking to a trained professional such as a counselor, therepast or pyschologist
chemcial depression will need the aid of a pychiatrist to precribe medication...depending on the serverity ...it can range from SSRI's (prozac, paxil, effexor, etc) to MAIO inhibitors, to minor to major tranquilizers....
many people who suffer from depression will need one the other or both
here's a link that might help http://www.depression.com/understanding_depression.html
dealing with depression....it's not recommended to try to diagonse or treat yourself without professional help....if you look in the phone book or online there are a lot of sites and phone #'s that will help find someone rite for you
i hope this helps and good luck sweetie :)

if you dont already have some, try finding some hobbies that will keep you occupied and that you enjoy. steer away from the things that depress you, if possible. i suffer from depression myself. mostly in the fall and winter months. i just try thinking of something positive everytime i feel depression coming on. example: if i am depressed about not having much extra cash after i pay my bills, i think to myself, "at least i have a good job so that i can pay my bills". positive thinking is the key! i hope i could be of help :)

Try to understand what makes you depressed and than try to change those circumstances. If your depression has no obvious reasons disscuss your problem with a clinical psychologist or a Psychiatrist. Anti-depression medication should be the last option.
