Go to your local high schools and colleges as these places have awesome photographers.
Find your local camera club and ask around there. There are usually many people there who are pros at taking children's pictures.
Ask a child what he would do to take the best picture of a child. Follow those instructions and see how they pan out.
Check your local television studio , public tv as there are some photographers in those areas.
Go to y our child's school , there are usually companies that specialize in taking children's pictures.
Wait until a holiday and check Sears and Penneys and MACYS. Around the holidays all of these stores hire children's photographers to take children's pictures with the Easter Bunny or with Santa Claus.
Check the yellow pages and then visit the studios to see the work of those photographers.
Use the yellow pages to check ART CLUBS, PHOTO CLUBS, CHILDREN"S PHOTOGRAPHY, and HOLIDAY PHOTOGRAPHY...and you'll find someone there for children's photography.
There are some awesome children's photographers at the Gateway Camera Club in New York. Look them up on the web.
Check the Brooklyn Camera Club and some others.
Do s earch for clubs and photographers on the net using search engines like dogpile.com , google.com and 37.com
Check the pages of the reference site called refdesk.com
Check the site of americanphotojournalist.com There are many children's photographers in there and many photojournalists listed along with their portfolios.
Check opendiary .com and ask the question there about children's photographers.
Call the telephone operator and ask for the number of your local children's photographers .
Use your imagination and you'll think of hundreds of ways to locate these photographers.
Locate a LOCAL paper...a weekly one..and check the advertisements and you'll find photographers and studios listed there.
ASK your friends and relatives if they know anyone who does that kind of work .

Go to your local colleges and universities, they may have policies about posting flyers but most are pretty flexible (you have to get it stamped as approved). Post the flyers in the art or photography dept, describe what you are looking for and how you would like to work out payment. Don't forget to list your contact information.
