YES!
But hepatitis would be the least of your problems. More likely you can get an infection in your bloodstream, which can be very serious, and even cause death.
Don't do this :)

You may have a disease and not know it. Hepatitis can have no symptoms for decades. I know, I had hepatitis c for 20 years before I found out. You should always practice universal precautions (treating blood and bodily fluids as though it has a contangious disease- wear gloves, don't touch share pins or needles that you stick yourself with, don't share toothbrushes or razors with others because viruses live outside the human body for days and can be transferred when you share these items). Your friend was right. Be careful.

IT really depends....
It depends how far you go. If it's only in the upper part of the skin and there's no blood coming out, nothing won't happen. The skin is a protective coat (the upper part are dead cells) and if is intact bacteria and viruses won't be able to get in (through your skin). Hepatitis it's in deed one of the diseases that is transmited through blood or other body fluids or by shering needles. Now how long the Hepatitis virus can live outside the body, i don't know. Like other people have said, you can get other problems from it like a systemic infection (in your blood) and die from it or tetanus. But that's only if you go deep enough, if your sense of feeling is working good and you're not a masoquist then if it doesn't hurt then you're more likely not going deep enough to have any problems.

First you have to ask yourself why you would want to do that. You may not be exposing yourself to hepatitis, but you can get staph, or other bacterial infections from even minor puncture wounds, of if you use the bathroom and have puncture wounds in your fingers, you could contract e.coli.
It simply isn't a good idea. Try needlepoint, or handstitching if you like the way something sharp feels going through something....but not your own skin.

You can transmit many diseases and germs through un-sterile needle usage. I would strongly advise to stop poking yourself with needles and administer first aid to your self inflicted wounds. Then make an appointment to get yourself tested for any possible infectious diseases. After all that, I would make an appointment to see a therapist because I'm pretty sure you have mental problems.

Your skin covers your body for a reason. It keeps your body fluids in and keeps germs and bacteria out. Any opening in the skin can give access to a contagious disease or infection especially when you stick a dirty object like a used needle into the hole.

Sticking urself with anything into your bloodstream is risking getting a disease, but that act alone will not spread disease, if there are no diseases... if ur dirty now thats a different question

only if you shared the needle. and keep it clean. i mean the needle and your finger. if it gets infected it's possible that it can give you Toxic Shock Syndrome. i know that you know that happens with people who wear tampons. but i knew this boy once who got TSS from a scratch under his foot and he was in a coma for a whole year and missed 9th grade.
you can't possibly SPREAD diseases if you like to prick your finger. but you do risk infection. that's all.

you wouldn't spread a disease by sticking your finger.. unless someone else sticks themselves with it after you.. but you certainly run the risk of catching something anytime you puncture the skin with a foreign object...

She's right. Hepatitis and simple blood poisoning can result from an unsterilized needle entering the bloodstream. It can seriously damage your liver.
